Inspiring Conversations with Samantha van de Kamp of VDK Digital

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha van de Kamp. 

Hi Samantha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
With a degree in Communications and Media, I actually got my career started in newspapers and magazines, where I was always working within the local community and of course local businesses. That is truly what I loved, was working with business owners and helping them share their stories. I actually worked in Australia for 4 years and got to work closely with local businesses in new areas. With the rise of social media, I began managing the online presence of the newspaper and then starting working more in the digital marketing space. We made the move to Nashville, TN in 2017, and being in a new and welcoming city, I started to meet local business owners and giving them advice on how to use social media. And VDK Digital was born – in 2018 I start my own business helping other business owners with their social media and digital marketing. 

Today, we work with businesses from Spring Hill, Brentwood, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Gallatin, Mt Juliet, East Nashville, all around the area to manage their social media accounts, creating content, and managing advertising campaigns to help them grow their business. We also have a social media membership program to help smaller business owners and other business professionals learn the skills and strategies on how to effectively use social media to grow their business. And we provide them with ongoing support with monthly calls, and a support group to help them with the everchanging world of social media. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely been an exciting ride! It is always challenging moving to a new city, plus opening a business not knowing anyone in town. But Nashville is such a welcoming city with a supportive business community! 

It was also a transition going from print media, newspapers and magazines, to social media, but some of the same concepts apply such as having strong hooks/headlines, eye-catching content and designs, storytelling, and building trust with your audience. Social media and digital marketing just provide so much more data and analytics back which are key to developing and maintaining a strong marketing strategy.

We are a social media and digital marketing company that specialize in specific, targeted social media marketing strategies for local businesses.
