

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Call.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in the hospitality business in the 80s while in high school & college. I worked for a family-owned casual dining restaurant in St. Albans – the river sedge & loved what I did! Worked with an outback steakhouse and nationally coordinated over 100 openings for the brand & did the same for O’Charley’s wanted to make my resume colorful so I ventured into the beverage business with red bull north America & Anheuser-Busch. While on my career path was approached by the number 7 ranked chef in the US to manage his upscale dining brand. He shortly passed away & I eventually bought the concept.
It’s been 12 years & now I have created a comfortable elevated dining & catering experience for guests near & far! We have won the nationally accredited wine spectator award for 16 years straight along with best caterer, best wedding venue, the best restaurant in Charleston & the list goes on. We are now franchising across the US & hope to be in a city near you!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road, I personally have many hurdles in my life that have led me to my present path.
Just in the last ten years, we have experienced a weather derecho, our owner passing away after only mentoring me for a year, tornado, water contamination, power ice storms – you name it–and to survive these financially and with the staff has been a challenge for sure. Not to mention the pandemic.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a local farm-to-table elevated business located in the heart of WV! We focus on everything that is local–Local live musicians, local farmers’ produce & proteins, and local glass by Blenko for our serving water to guests. We specialize in an out-of-state feel with you, dine with us!
We are super immaculate & very spacious for all to feel safe! We offer private rooms for large parties & off-site catering for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We are different for the WV Market-not your typical Appalachian theme.
We are most proud of our Wine List & our Bistro Staff! We are now franchising our brand across the USA! We hope to come to a city near you!
Who else deserves credit for your story?
I have had many mentors thru the years and they all have had a great role in my life! I have accumulated all of their mentorship & lessons into the daily operation of my women-led & owned business!
