Today we’d like to introduce you to Seana Whitehurst.
Hi Seana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Perfect Glow Brentwood started from a simple idea: I wanted to create a sunless tanning experience that felt elevated, personalized, and truly skin-focused. Like many people, I loved the confidence a great tan brings, but I felt there was room for a more customized, skin-conscious approach.
I began by investing in professional training and certifications and spent a lot of time learning how different solutions work with different skin tones and types. Early on, I offered mobile spray tans so I could bring a convenient, high-quality service directly to clients in their homes.
Over time, the business has grown through word of mouth and support from the local community. Currently I operate primarily as a mobile service throughout Williamson County, and I’m in the process of finishing a home studio in Brentwood that will officially open in late April.
I’ve also loved finding small ways to give back locally, including supporting school fundraisers and creating my Glow Scholarship initiative to help teens feel confident for events like prom.
The business is still growing, and I’m excited to continue building it while adding wellness-focused services like red light therapy and expanding the studio experience in the months ahead.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. The spray tanning industry is full of incredibly talented, well-established artists, so stepping into a market with professionals who have been doing this for years can feel intimidating. At the same time, spray tanning still carries some outdated stereotypes from the early days, people immediately think of orange tones, streaks, or unnatural results.
One of the biggest challenges has been helping people see how much the industry has evolved. Today’s solutions are cleaner, more advanced, and when applied correctly can look incredibly natural. A big part of my journey has been educating clients about that and showing them the difference through personalized shade matching and skin-focused products.
Like any small business, there have also been learning curves along the way, but each challenge has helped me refine my technique, strengthen my brand, and build confidence in the service I provide. It’s been a process of steady growth, and I’m grateful for the clients and community who have supported me along the way.
We’ve been impressed with The Perfect Glow Brentwood, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Perfect Glow Brentwood was created with a simple goal: to offer a sunless tanning experience that feels both elevated and approachable while prioritizing healthy, natural-looking results. Serving clients throughout Williamson County and surrounding communities, The Perfect Glow offers mobile spray tanning as well as an in-home studio in Brentwood that is set to open in late April.
What makes the brand unique is its highly personalized approach. Each tan is carefully customized based on a client’s skin tone, undertone, and desired depth using premium, artist-trusted solutions made with clean, skin-nourishing ingredients. The focus is always on creating a glow that enhances someone’s natural complexion rather than looking overly dark or artificial.
A big part of the experience is the attention to detail that happens before and after the spray itself. Every appointment includes time spent properly prepping the skin to ensure the most even, natural development possible. Special care is also taken to carefully blend the hands and feet so the final result looks seamless and flawless. After the tan is applied, a finishing spray and powder are used to help set the tan and keep clients comfortable as they leave. These details are all included with every appointment because I believe great results should never feel like an upgrade.
Beyond the service itself, The Perfect Glow Brentwood is rooted in community. The brand regularly supports local partnerships and initiatives, including the Glow Scholarship, which provides spray tans for teen girls attending special events who may not otherwise have the opportunity.
At its core, The Perfect Glow Brentwood is about more than just sunless tanning, it’s about helping people feel confident, radiant, and comfortable in their own skin.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
As a Franklin native, Williamson County has always been home to me, so it’s really special to now run a business here and serve the community I grew up in. One of the things I love most about this area is the strong sense of community. People genuinely support local businesses, show up for one another, and take pride in where they live. There’s also such a great mix of growth and charm here, from the historic character of downtown Franklin to the beautiful neighborhoods and the many locally owned shops and businesses throughout the county.
If I had to pick something I like least, it would probably be how quickly the area has grown. While the growth has brought a lot of opportunity and excitement to the community, it can also make things feel a little busier and more crowded than they used to be. But overall, it’s still an incredible place to live, raise a family, and build a business.
