Inspiring Conversations with Vassili Soucharin of VS IT Services, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vassili Soucharin.

Hi Vassili , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from college in 1998 and went to work in the corporate world. In 2010 the company I worked for fell apart. The clients, however, didn’t go anywhere, so another company took over the accounts. They did a survey of the clients and they all told the new company that if they are taking over the accounts they need to take over me as well. So even though the new company intended to move all IT to India they offered me to stay on for 6 months and help with the transition. 6 months turned into 3 years, but eventually the transition was complete and I was let go (on good terms, but still).

So in August 2013 the idea of starting my own business was born. There are a lot of people out there who have the technical knowledge. But as I found myself working more in the customer service world and liking it I felt that I could bring the best of the 2 worlds to my clients. There are a lot of small businesses out there that don’t have full time IT, they don’t need full time IT. They do have a system and they need it to work. That’s where I come in – I take over that part without ever being on their payroll. And my goal is not to build the most cutting edge technological solution, my goal is to help the client. I succeed when the clients’ system does what the client needs

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The technical part has been fantastic. I have established a great long-term relationship with most of my clients and most mornings I am looking forward to the day – I know I will see some great people, I will help them and I will get paid for it.

The part I am still struggling with is finding new business. My background is IT, not sales. About the only reliable method so far is the word of mouth from existing clients, and it is a very good one bur rather slow

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business specializes in providing IT services to other small businesses that don’t have IT of their own.

I have nothing against individuals and will gladly help anyone who comes to me. I have nothing against big businesses and have successfully worked with them when they needed extra help or to have someone on-site. However, what I really want is an established, ongoing relationship with other small businesses where I can be their IT department without being on their payroll.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I can’t think of one specific one. Some of the greatest memories was when school year was over and you have an entire summer ahead of you
