Inspiring Conversations with Wendy Stacy of Brooks Harvest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Stacy.

Hi Wendy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out with the love of flowers, mixing them in my vegetable garden for cut bouquets. A few years went by and I saw how much people enjoyed flowers and it made them smile. After that I expanded my garden to start a cut flower farm. I started doing micro weddings here at the farm, as well as off-site wedding flowers. On that journey and after planning a getting ready for the weddings here at the farm, I remembered that on my daughters wedding day, there are so many fine details and things to do that I didn’t even really remember the actual wedding. After that, while still doing wedding flowers, I quit my corporate job and I decided to go to school to be able to become a wedding planner and coordinator. I did not want to go into this role, without the true knowledge of what it takes to plan and coordinate. I love doing flowers and will always have a passion for that, but what I realized is that I wanted to help the brides (and Moms) be able to enjoy the wedding. After graduating school, I started doing mostly Day-Of Coordination and making sure that I am there so that the family can relax, as much as possible, and help take the stress off of them by overseeing all of the steps to make the day as special as possible.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road, I don’t think starting any kind of business is probably a smooth road. But if you are passionate about something I think it is definitely worth it. I think all new businesses have struggles but the biggest one for me is getting the word out. Social Media is great but it is definitely been the biggest struggle.

We’ve been impressed with Brooks Harvest , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a Floral and Wedding Coordination business. I do wedding florals of all kinds as well as Wedding planning and Coordination. I specialize in Day-Of Coordination, I truly enjoy working with my clients well before time and helping answer questions and then seeing their visions come to life while being able to take on the stress for them on the day-of. I think what sets me apart from others is even though I am the clients Day-Of Coordinator, wedding planning is stressful. All of my clients have my cell phone number and email and if they have questions, can’t figure something out, or just want to show me something exciting they got then they know they can get a hold of me anytime. Brand wise, well I’m still working on that. Originally starting out as a farm the brand doesn’t necessarily say “wedding” which is my main business now. It’s hard to decide if you want to re-brand when this is the name that everyone know and I have built on for almost 6 years. I would like everyone to know that my clients get my full attention, they can get a hold of me at anytime. I have different packages for everyone depending on the size of the wedding and whether or not you need help decoration or just coordination. As far as the florals, I work hard to see your vision and want to make sure that I know what that is by coming up with different options for you to choose from.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Haha. I wouldn’t say I have any luck. With that though I do believe that I am lucky in the fact that my family has been my rock. I couldn’t have gotten where I am without my family. Always jumping in when I needed a hand to install something, build something, help with flowers or needed an extra hand at a wedding.
