Inspiring Conversations with Yuki Block of FlyNash Aerial Arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yuki Block.

Hi Yuki, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2013, I opened the first aerial arts studio in Saskatoon, SK, Canada, offering instruction for both children and adults. After selling the business in 2020, I pursued a new path in healthcare and became a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant in 2023. My long-term goal has been to merge my passion for aerial arts with the evidenced based practice of Occupational Therapy—a vision I’ve been working toward since relocating to Nashville five years ago.

I will be offering a one-of-a-kind Pediatric Occupational Therapy experience through aerial arts and movement.
In addition, I will continue offering aerial arts classes for both children and adults.

I’ve been an instructor at Nashville School for the Aerial Arts (NSAA) since its opening and will be taking over the space this July with FlyNash Aerial Arts, as the current owners retire. I’ll be offering $10 trial classes throughout July for both kids and adults to sample our offerings. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Autism TN. Our first full session officially begins on August 11.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a long journey filled with many milestones and turning points. The COVID pandemic was a particularly challenging time, when my husband and I made the decision to relocate to Nashville. Despite the uncertainty, it sparked a new vision for how I would like to offer aerial arts in a more therapeutic, purposeful way, specifically tailored to support a unique population.

Pursuing education in Occupational Therapy was the first step, followed by experience and working in the OT field with the pediatric population. For the past two years, I’ve been actively searching for the right location to bring this vision to life. Finding a space with ceilings high enough to safely accommodate aerial arts has been a major challenge—one that’s common in cities everywhere.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to step into a fully equipped aerial arts space with the highest rigging points Nashville has to offer, as NSAA’s founding owners move into their well-earned retirement.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What sets our studio apart in Nashville is not only the impressive height of our facility—ideal for aerial training—but also the depth of expertise within our instructor team. Our top priorities are safety and delivering high-quality aerial arts instruction.
In addition to our general offerings, we will provide specialized classes designed for the neurodiverse population, led by instructors with education and experience in the field of Occupational Therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy.
