Inspiring Conversations with Yvonne Constancio of Nashville Center for Alternative Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Constancio

Hi Yvonne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was introduced to Acupuncture by a friend after I had shared with him that I was having digestive issues and struggling with a mild depression. He was in graduate school to become an acupuncturist and he suggested that I visit the school’s acupuncture clinic. I was surprised by how relaxing and gentle the treatment was and even more surprised that taking a nap with some needles in my body would result in such a powerful shift toward healing.

5 years later, I found myself searching for answers on where to take my life. I had several interests and I had explored many career and job opportunities, but the passion usually faded with each passing attempt to find the one thing that truly lit me up. I spent much time praying and asking for guidance.

When one day, I looked around my apartment and realized that all of my books were about holistic healing. I know it probably should have been obvious, but for some reason I just hadn’t considered it as a career path. I thought back to how much acupuncture had helped me with my digestive issues and depression. Luckily for me, I lived in Austin Texas, which is where one of the top Acupuncture graduate schools was located. I scheduled a tour with The Graduate School of Integrative Medicine that day and I started the 4 year Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture graduate program just a couple of months later.

I was thrown into a whole new perspective of viewing health and over 4000 years of philosophy and theory on reflection of the cycles and patterns of nature and how we can use this integral information to heal our bodies.

Acupuncture led me to experience the movement and communication of energy. The more clients I saw, the more in tune I became to being guided by their bodies and their energy. I love simply grazing my finger over an Acupuncture channel or meridian to be told by the body which acupuncture point to use.

I combine my academic knowledge with intuition and the ability of opening up to receive the information that each body wants to share and what each body needs.

Energywork organically became more integrated into my acupuncture practice. which led me to becoming certified as a Reiki Master.

More sessions devoted just to Reiki led to receiving messages from my client’s bodies. I began to see and feel old memories stored in the body, hear messages wanting to be known and released, and sense the presence of past loved ones and spirit guides come in to assist in offering healing.

This eventually led to unlocking the ability to channel. I learned how to access the Akashic Records and now offer channeled guidance directly offered by one’s own Soul and Spirit Guides.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In 2008, I chose to enter graduate school for Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at the age of 34. There was definitely concern for the challenge of creating a new life and business at the age of 38, which is how old I would be when I graduated.

I’ve always been someone who has faith in following those pings of YES when they present themselves even if I don’t have an exact map to the finish line, so to speak. I maintain a state of curiosity and openness to opportunity and take action when the intuitive impulse that I feel is connected to God’s Guidance calls me to take action.

Relocating from Austin to Nashville in 2013 was one of those pings. I only had 1 friend in Nashville, but felt that Nashville had great potential as a rapidly evolving city to build an Acupuncture business as there were still very few Acupuncturists practicing in the area.

I started my journey in Nashville working at the East Nashville Community Acupuncture Clinic and then later moved to Dunn Health Care, a chiropractic center that wanted to have an Acupuncturist in the office.

In 2014, my partner Ramona Reid and I opened Nashville Center for Alternative Therapy in East Nashville. Our vision was to provide a variety of alternative healing modalities under one roof that would meet our clients needs emotionally, physically and spiritually. We had counselors, coaches, chiropractors, spiritual mediums, hypnotherapists, massage therapists and many other providers offering their services with a focus on community support and empowering our clients to be an active participant in their own healing.

However, building my own clientele at Nashville Center for Alternative Therapy took some time and I held my position (full-time and then moving to part-time) at Dunn Health Care until 2016. This provided me the opportunity to have a stable income while building a sustainable income independently at my own business. At one point, to help me pay my student loans off – I also waited tables for almost a year. I would have to say, paying off student loan debt is still the greatest struggle that hangs over my head to this day.

As you know, we’re big fans of Nashville Center for Alternative Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
As I mentioned earlier, when we opened NCAT in 2016, we provided a variety of alternative healing modalities under one roof that met our clients needs emotionally, physically and spiritually. We had counselors, coaches, chiropractors, spiritual mediums, hypnotherapists, massage therapists and many other providers offering their services with a focus on community support and empowering our clients to be an active participant in their own healing.

In 2020, COVID caused us to downsize as a business and leave our commercial space on Gallatin Pike. We moved to a small studio, where three of us practiced for 4 years. This year, we have relocated to Center 615 on Main St and are happy to be back in a vibrant community space. Center 615 offers us the space to bring back our workshops and we’re excited to collaborate with other healers in the area.

At this time, NCAT offers Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Reiki, Sound Therapy, Enneagram and Inner Child Coaching, Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique, Akashic Records Readings, and Tarot Readings.

My services include Acupuncture, Reiki, and Akashic Records Readings. I’m also certified as a Somatic Stress Release Practitioner and am available for private sessions guiding clients through intuitive movement to release stress.

I believe what sets NCAT apart is the focus on empowering our clients to be an active participant in their own healing. We are here as a heart-led support team deeply listening for what the client needs and are eager to meet them in whatever stage of their healing that they are in.

How do you think about luck?
Luck is what happens when you listen to your intuition, God’s Guidance and taking action when you receive those Divine messages.
