Juan Galvis on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Juan Galvis. Check out our conversation below.

Juan, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes! A recent moment that made me both laugh and feel incredibly proud was purchasing my new home. It was such a huge milestone, and after all the hard work and ups and downs, finally holding those keys felt surreal. I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing—partly out of joy and partly because it was hard to believe I really did it. It was a powerful reminder of how far I’ve come and what I’m capable of achieving.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! We’re a husband duo and the owners of Yin Yang Tea – West Nashville. We purchased the business about a year ago with the vision of turning it into a fun, welcoming space where people can enjoy delicious drinks, relax, and connect. Since then, we’ve been pouring our hearts into building something special.

Right now, we’re in the middle of an exciting rebrand to bring even more creativity and personality to the shop. Think of it as your favorite neighborhood hangout—but with more color, more flavor, and more reasons to smile. We’re working on new experiences, playful menu additions, and a refreshed atmosphere that reflects who we are: creative, community-focused, and just a little quirky. We can’t wait to share what’s coming next!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
That person would definitely be my husband, Lane. We met in college, and he’s been by my side ever since. Through every high and low, Lane has always seen something in me—even when I couldn’t see it myself. He’s believed in my potential, supported my wildest ideas, and stood by me in moments when I honestly thought I was going to fail. His constant encouragement and faith in me have made all the difference, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Yes, I do. One moment that really stands out is when I worked with a former manager named Kris. He was one of the first people who truly listened to me—not just about work, but about what I wanted in life. He took the time to get to know me, to understand my goals, and even to learn from me. I’ll never forget when he told me I had what it takes to be a business owner and encouraged me to take the risk. That belief, coming from someone I respected so much, meant the world to me and played a big part in where I am today.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
One project I’m fully committed to—no matter how long it takes—is *Crafty Boba*, the name of our new brand. It’s a concept that blends creativity, community, and delicious drinks in a space that feels fun, welcoming, and inspiring. Crafty Boba isn’t just a rebrand—it’s a reflection of everything we’re passionate about. I truly believe in its potential, and I’m committed to building it into something meaningful and lasting. Success takes time, but I’m all in for the journey.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I was someone who worked hard, chased my dreams fearlessly, and actually made them happen. More than that, I hope they remember how I made them feel—that I brought joy, made them smile, and was a great friend to have around. At the end of the day, I want my story to be one of kindness, determination, and creating spaces where people felt seen, supported, and happy.
