Ada Pasternak shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Ada, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I’m in the Studio multiple times a week recording and also in the process of building a Music Studio inside my apartment! When I’m not recording, I’m writing and working on my Album. Or doing boring emails. Or eating left-over Indian food. I’m currently addicted to watching Gilmore Girls too, which I’m not proud of. I do the occasional Singer/Songwriter Round here and there and am starting to book some shows for the Fall.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Ada, like Prada. I’m a Musician, and it feels good to say it out loud. It’s a crazy unpredictable career but I can’t imagine doing anything else. I do some acting and modeling , but music is what I’ve done my whole life and it feels most natural to me.
I grew up in a musical family and my parents put me in Violin lessons at six years old. By ten I was a child prodigy. By 15 I was a rising star, soloing with Professional Orchestras receiving awards and standing ovations from audiences of 2,000 plus. All that came to a sudden halt when I developed extreme pain in my upper body which made it impossible for me to play. The physical injury changed the trajectory of my whole life. I didn’t pick up the Violin for nearly 3 years when fate came calling…
My mom, at the time was taking Music Therapy courses which intrigued me. So long story short, I spontaneously filled out an application to Berklee College of Music. I had to impress them with something so I took the Violin out of its case and prepared a piece for my audition. To my surprise (shock actually) I received a Full Tuition Scholarship and thats where all the fun began… Berklee was like a big musical playground and I played with the Jazz Cats, the Bluegrass folks, the Mariachi band, and so much more. I had my college boyfriend who was my first love and when we broke up, songs started to pour out of me like rain. I’ve been writing ever since… I have a ton of music available on all streaming platforms, and I’m really excited to share my Album with everyone in the near future.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Lack of communication, trust, and faith.
The same three things can restore a bond, and forgiveness. But sometimes a bond cannot be restored.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Watching a family member destroy themselves with drugs, and finding them not breathing on the floor. That was traumatic. He’s alive today and I couldn’t ask for a bigger miracle.
The other big wound in my life was a sudden and excruciating breakup with the man I thought I was going to marry. It was a double heartbreak since he kept me from seeing my dog, who I haven’t seen in over 2 years now. Life isn’t fair sometimes.
I miss my dog very much and I’m tearing up right just thinking of her.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Being honest, sincere, and loyal.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop sleeping in and start catching the sunrise every morning
