Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Ashley Guthrie MD

Ashley Guthrie MD shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Ashley, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
I wake up around 6am when my toddler daughter wakes up, and get both her and myself ready for the day. Then I head to work for the day, which is easy seeing patients in the office or operating. After work I head to pick up my daughter, get home, make dinner and then have some relaxing time with my family before bed and doing it all over again!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ashley Guthrie, I am a Double-Board Certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and I own Guthrie Facial Plastic Surgery. I focus solely on surgical and nonsurgical treatment of the face and neck. My goal is to make my patients feel more like themselves, meaning that I seek to make patients feel that their outer appearance reflects how they feel on the inside. Beautiful, natural but meaningful results are my trademark.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed I was shy, but I realized I am just a naturally quiet person! I am actually quite friendly and enjoy being around people, but I definitely need time to reset by myself, as well.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
During my first year of college at the University of Pennsylvania I had a few extremely tough pre-medical pre-requisite courses and professors that made me doubt my career trajectory. I am so glad I pushed through, because everything became so much smoother after that and I really excelled from that point forward academically.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! One thing to know about me is my personality is extremely stable- I act the same way in most every circumstance- for better or for worse!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think they would miss our conversations. I have so many wonderful patients who have been coming to me for years already and we know so much about each others families and lives, we spend the first 10 minutes of their appointments just catching up! We genuinely care for one another.
