We’re looking forward to introducing you to Braden Jamison. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Braden, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I love playing golf, and I try to get out there as much as I can. I’ve noticed it helps my creative process, as well, to go do something outside that is not music related.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Braden Jamison, and I am a singer-songwriter from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I travel all over the country with my backing band, The Neon Strangers, and I just signed my first publishing deal with Sea Gayle Music.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My entire family is extremely hardworking. I’m the baby of the family, so I got to grow up seeing how my siblings worked hard to get where they wanted to go. My parents are the most hardworking people I know, and it was great for me to see them set that example my whole life. They are still setting that example today.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I’ve changed my mind about a lot of things since I first moved to Nashville. My dad used to say “Keep your mind open and your mouth shut.” I think that is some of the best advice I’ve ever gotten. In general, my approach to songwriting and willingness to collaborate has changed, and my taste in music and my overall sound as an artist has evolved. I’m a pretty stubborn guy, but those changes have really given me many more opportunities and chances in town.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I always try to be as authentic as I can in my music career. It’s not always easy since there is a sense of vulnerability that is pretty uncomfortable to show the world. I’m not someone who likes to showoff or be in the spotlight all the time, but I really love what I do and I try to convey that on stage.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope, above any career success, people remember me as a follower of Jesus and a man of character.
