Cami Nyx shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Cami , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
I would hire myself because I am an incredibly hard worker. I am also very personable, social, and respectful. I give my all to everything I do.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Cami Nyx, and I am a successful, independent artist. I am super passionate about creating music that is entirely made up of real instruments and recorded by real hard-working musicians, as we live in a music industry that has become so digital.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed that I was destined to be a famous actress. I now can confidently admit that acting is not necessarily a strength of mine. I think as a child, I thought becoming a child actor would just be fun, and I was confident I was a good actor, however, I can admit now that I am not a good actor and just told myself I was because I wanted to be a child actor so bad.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Your hard work is going to pay off.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads come and go. Real foundational shifts become a part of your routine.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What false labels are you still carrying?
I have these feelings that none of my friends take my music career seriously or treat it like a real career. I feel like I am constantly trying to prove that I am a successful musician and that it’s not just a dream that I pursue as a hobby. I don’t know why I feel this way or carry these false beliefs with me, but I do, and I carry them every day.
