Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Carolyn Miller

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Carolyn Miller. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Carolyn, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me right now is definitely a juggling act — but a beautiful one. I’m a full-time mom to a very smart and energetic toddler, so my mornings usually start bright and early. From there, it’s a mix of breakfast chaos, coffee (always coffee), squeezing in emails, social posts, or other music related work during nap time. Some days I’m at shows or shooting content, and other days I’m in full-on mom mode. I’m incredibly grateful I get to pursue my passion while also being present for these little moments at home.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a country-pop artist from Long Island, NY with part time residency in Nashville. I come from a background in acting and musical theatre, but found my true voice in country music — a genre that lets me tell real stories with heart. I’m also a new mom, so my life (and my music) is deeply rooted in family, resilience, and chasing big dreams…even with a baby on your hip!

As an independent artist, I’ve built everything grassroots — from viral wedding songs to headlining shows — all while staying true to who I am. My music blends country storytelling with pop hooks and theatrical moments, and I love creating songs that make people feel good. Right now, I’m in the middle of releasing a string of new singles, including my most recent release, “Worst At Letting Go”.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My voice teacher stopped me in the middle of a lesson one time about ten years ago and told me to quit musical theatre and move to Nashville. I still laugh about that!!! Country music or being a recording artist wasn’t even a thought in my mind at the time … but I think he saw it before I did 🙂

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Do what makes you happy. It’s okay to change or redirect the path you might be on if it is no longer serving you …. there’s usually something better on the other side 🙂

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes – I’m very what you see is what you get. I’m the same person on and off the stage 🙂

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
There have definitely been moments where I’ve felt that tap-dancing-to-work energy — when a song comes to life in the studio, my wedding ballad “When I Say I Do Today” went viral and I started getting messages from brides all over the world, when a fan messages me to say my song helped them through something, or when I’m performing live and see people singing the words back. I feel grateful to have created a path that’s both personally meaningful and creatively fulfilling.
