We recently had the chance to connect with Erin Gibney and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day usually starts at 6:30 am with a walk around Germantown in Nashville. When I get back home, I shower, make a cup of coffee, and write in my gratitude journal!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Erin Gibney and I am a pop country artist from Southington, Connecticut. I moved to Nashville to be a singer in 2017 and went to Belmont University. Shortly after I graduated college, I went through my first big breakup and started posting about my experience on the internet. I grew a community of people who both connected with my music and my stories of dating, friendship, and adulthood. My social media growth has led me to go on my first headlining tour and garner millions of streams on my songs!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my sisters has shaped me more than any others in my life. My sisters are the 2 people who are always pushing me to be better and own the areas where I need to grow. They support me unconditionally and make the ups and downs of music so much easier to manage.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to my younger self it would be to believe in myself even on the hard days. Being as passionate as I am about my career, I have always felt really affected by the highs and the lows of the music industry. When things didn’t happen in my music the way I envisioned, it used to make me feel like my dreams were out of reach. The older I get, the more I realize that every moment is important in the journey and every day moves the needle closer to where I want to be.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that loyalty really matters so me. Life can get so crazy sometimes so its important for my people to know that I have their back and for me to know that they have mine. Knowing that you have friends in your corner that will always defend, support, and love you makes life feel so much lighter.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
I think I would regret not giving my music my complete all. In 20 years, I would never want to feel like I gave up on my passion and purpose. My songs are what keep me grounded and fulfilled so I would never want to turn my back on that feeling.
