Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Janeka Jordan

We recently had the chance to connect with Janeka Jordan and have shared our conversation below.

Janeka, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Right now, I’m being called to rise. To walk boldly in the woman I’ve become and no longer apologize for my strength, my softness, or my light. I’ve spent so much time pouring into everyone else, learning lessons through loss, and finding my way back to myself. Now I’m in a season of peace, purpose, and power, one where I’m no longer surviving but truly living. I’m being called to trust the process, to embrace the unknown, and to create from a place of healing and faith. Everything I’ve been through was preparation. I’m not running from it anymore. I’m standing in it, grateful, ready, and becoming everything I was meant to be.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Janeka. I believe in creating spaces that feel like peace, places where people can breathe, reflect, and remember their light. My purpose has always been rooted in love, authenticity, and connection. I’m drawn to moments that bring people home to themselves, where they can feel safe, inspired, and reminded that even after everything life takes you through, you can still rise beautifully.

Over the past ten months, I’ve gone through a complete transformation. Losing my Dad in December 2024 changed the rhythm of how I move through life. It taught me that love doesn’t end, it transforms. It reminded me to live intentionally, to move with grace, and to let my life reflect gratitude even in moments of growth. His strength still lives in me, and I carry his spirit in everything I do.

Out of that season came The Little Luminary Series. It’s my first children’s book, born from a place of healing, hope, and divine purpose. Each story was created to help children see their worth, feel loved, and know that their light matters. Writing it became a sacred process, a way to transform pain into purpose and to honor the love and wisdom my father left behind.

Now, I use my voice, creativity, and energy to pour light into others through words, storytelling, and the simple act of showing up with intention. My hope is that whoever encounters my work feels seen, uplifted, and reminded that their story still holds purpose. This season feels like peace meeting promise. I’m walking in faith, guided by grace, and creating from a place of wholeness, knowing that both my light and my father’s continue to guide me through every season.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose and needs to be released is the version of me that felt like she had to fight to be enough. For a long time, I moved through life in survival mode, carrying everything, showing up for everyone, being the strong one no matter how heavy it got. I kept pushing through pain, holding on, proving my worth, and wearing strength like armor. That version of me was powerful, but she was tired. She was doing what she had to do to keep going.

But these last nine months changed everything. God stripped me down and rebuilt me piece by piece. He showed me that I didn’t have to fight for what’s already mine. I didn’t have to beg for peace. I didn’t have to chase love or purpose. I just had to trust. I had to let Him remind me who I am.

And now, I’m here. After it all, I rose. I stayed ten toes down when life tried to break me, and I came out softer, wiser, and stronger than I’ve ever been. I’ve released the version of me that only knew survival and stepped into the woman who knows peace. The woman who moves with faith, not fear. The woman who glows from the inside out because she finally remembers her light.

Everything I create now, my words, my energy, my book, all of it comes from this new space. It’s not about proving anymore. It’s about pouring. It’s about showing others that you can lose it all, heal through it, rise again, and still shine. Because I did. And I’m proof that when you choose faith over fear, you never stay buried, you bloom.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me things that success never could. It taught me how to see beauty in broken places. Success can show you reward, but suffering reveals your roots. It’s where I learned what strength really means, not pretending to be okay, but standing firm when everything around you feels like it’s falling apart.

In those quiet moments when it was just me and God, I learned how to trust His timing even when I didn’t understand it. I learned that peace isn’t found in what you have, it’s found in who you become. Suffering taught me stillness, it taught me faith, and it taught me how to find light in the middle of darkness.

When you’ve lost, when you’ve been broken, and you still choose to rise, that’s a different kind of power. It’s not loud, it’s not flashy, but it’s real. It’s steady. It’s divine.

Success taught me how to smile for the world, but suffering taught me how to smile for my soul. It gave me compassion, wisdom, and a softer heart. It made me who I am now, someone who knows that even when everything is stripped away, God can still build beauty from what’s left.

So now when I speak, write, or create, it’s not coming from perfection, it’s coming from peace. Because I know what it feels like to be broken and still rise, and that is a different kind of success.

What tried to bury me became the soil I grew from.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is love through community. I was raised to understand that we are stronger together, that the way we treat people reflects who we truly are. I carry that with me in everything I do. Whether I am creating, speaking, or simply existing in a space, I want people to feel seen, valued, and cared for.

For me, love and connection are sacred. I believe in honoring people’s stories, in listening without judgment, and in holding space for healing and growth. My faith and my upbringing taught me that light grows when it is shared, and that kindness can shift the atmosphere. That is something I protect deeply, the energy of unity, compassion, and authenticity.

I want my presence to remind people that they belong, that they matter, and that there is still good in this world. I protect the value of community because it is what keeps us human. It is what turns moments into memories, strangers into family, and pain into purpose. That kind of love is my culture, and I will always protect it.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply that most people don’t is that peace is not something you stumble upon, it is something you build. It is a daily choice, a mindset, and a way of moving through life with grace. I have learned that peace requires release. You have to let go of control, expectations, and the versions of yourself that were only meant to survive.

I understand that everything in life has purpose, even the pain. The moments that feel heavy are often the ones that shape your strength the most. What breaks you also opens you, and what feels like an ending is often an introduction to something greater.

I have learned that real success is not about status, it is about stillness. It is the ability to be grounded, to be kind, and to stay soft in a world that keeps trying to harden you. It is knowing who you are, who God is, and trusting that everything you walk through has meaning.

That is something I carry deeply. Peace, love, and purpose are not temporary feelings. They are who I am now, and they are what I protect with my whole heart.
