Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jenn McWhorter

Jenn McWhorter shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jenn, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, what’s been bringing me the most joy is celebrating my amazing friends and family. My love language is acts of service, so I’m in my happy place when I get to host, plan, and go all-out to make them feel special. Whether it’s a birthday bash, a baby shower, or a toast to a new job, I absolutely love finding fun ways to shower my people with love. There’s nothing better than seeing the people I care about light up—it fills my cup every time!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Jenn, the founder of The Prepped Palate! What began as a side hustle during COVID quickly evolved into a full-time venture fueled by passion (and a lot of time in the kitchen). What started as a one-woman operation has grown into a powerhouse team of talented chefs, all working together to meet the demand for our amazing (and hungry) clients.

We specialize in highly customized meal prep delivery and catering services. And most recently, we’ve launched grab-and-go meals at The Den in East Nashville, with hopes to continue to expand into other stores. Whether it’s for busy professionals, families, or anyone who just wants to eat well without the stress, we’re here to make food personal, flavorful, and convenient.

As we grow, our mission is to scale intentionally – staying true to our roots by focusing on high-quality ingredients, a personal touch, and a genuine love for feeding people.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my mom is everything – she is my best friend and has had a huge impact on my self-confidence and love for life. From a young age, my parents encouraged my brother and me to get outside, stay active, and work hard. Through sports and a lot of extracurriculars, I learned to take pride in the things I put my heart into.

My mom’s passion for health, fitness, and cooking was contagious, and it’s no surprise that it eventually became the core of my career. Aside from a brief detour into corporate finance, I’ve built my professional life around the same passions she instilled in me. Her love for wellness continues to inspire everything I do, and I’m grateful every day for the foundation she helped me build.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I think a lot of people can probably relate to this, but I really miss when life felt simpler. Not necessarily easier, but just… less complicated. These days, with social media constantly reminding us of what everyone else is doing, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind or that you should be doing more. There’s something special about the days when things were less noisy and you could just focus on what mattered to you in the moment.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I make it a point to protect good energy at all costs. Whether it’s the people I surround myself with or how I approach life’s challenges, I believe in staying positive and uplifting. Life’s too short to let negativity or toxicity take up any space – it’s all about creating an environment that helps everyone thrive.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I’d imagine my customers would miss both the convenience and quality that our meals brig to their lives. While there are plenty of meal prep services out there, I like to think what sets us apart is our commitment to offering a highly customized, premium product that’s tailored to their needs. My goal has always been to create meals that feel like a personalized experience – something they can’t easily replace or live without.
