We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jenna Feeney. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Jenna, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I just got married in May, and my husband and I are really enjoying being newlyweds! We are house hunting and looking forward to this next chapter of our lives together. Our wedding was everything we wanted it to be and we feel so content with where we are now.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jenna Feeney, I am a singer-songwriter from Rockville, Maryland. I currently reside in Nashville and play my music all over town, collaborate with other writers, and am working on releasing my first album.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents have always supported me- and I truly believe they saw potential in my music before I even saw it myself. They bought me my first guitar when I was 15 and didn’t mind listening to my trial and error when learning to play. They found opportunities for me to share my music and drove me down to Nashville for the first time when I was 17. I feel so lucky to have them as my biggest fans.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Keep going. Life is going to try stopping you dead in your tracks and you just have to trust in the process and soldier on. I got “keep going” as my first tattoo and I absolutely love having the constant reminder that the fight is never truly over.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. I am 100% myself when I perform- what you see is what you get! I am an anxious person, and as much as I adore performing, it does not necessarily come easily to me. I feel comfortable talking about my anxiety with a crowd because it is not something I am ashamed of, and I know it would mean a lot to me to hear that an artist be vulnerable if I were in the audience. I feel that there is no benefit from hiding my battles- especially if it could make someone else feel empowered.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am at home with my husband and my dog, writing or listening to the record player, drinking a nice glass of wine. I am truly lucky that I have found my person and sometimes the mundane nights are my favorite. We have a 5 year old German Shepherd/ Labrador mix named Hendrix- and we are obsessed with him! We love going on adventures but there is nothing quite like being at home.
