Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Myrissa Jordan of Oskaloosa, IA

Myrissa Jordan shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Myrissa, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that’s been bringing me so much joy lately is spending time with my family and soaking in all the sweet moments of motherhood. Watching my little one grow and experience new things has completely changed my perspective—every milestone feels like magic. We’ve also been enjoying rodeo season, which has become a fun tradition and a great way to connect with our roots and community. On top of that, I’ve loved traveling with friends and family whenever we get the chance. Whether it’s a quick weekend getaway or a special celebration trip, there’s nothing better than making memories in new places with the people you love most.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there! I’m Myrissa Jordan—Midwest mama, travel advisor, content creator, and currently on the exciting path of becoming a licensed real estate agent in Iowa. I’m a proud mom to a sweet 9-month-old baby girl, and she’s been the biggest inspiration behind the way I approach life, work, and everything in between.

By day, I manage my travel business with Good Trip Travel Co., where I help couples, families, and groups plan unforgettable all-inclusive vacations—from honeymoons to babymoons, birthday getaways, and beyond. I love making travel feel effortless and exciting for my clients, and I specialize in curating experiences that feel both personal and seamless.

Outside of my travel business, I’m working toward my real estate license to expand the ways I can help people build the lives they dream of—whether that’s through travel or homeownership. I also dabble in content creation for fun, sharing the raw, real, and sometimes wild side of motherhood, lifestyle, and everyday joys through a lens of humor and heart.

What makes my journey unique is how all these pieces—motherhood, entrepreneurship, travel, real estate, and creativity—blend together to shape a brand rooted in connection, authenticity, and a whole lot of passion. I’m a big believer that women can wear many hats, and I’m proud to be building a life that reflects just that.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Honestly, my husband (Nick Jordan) has always seen the best in me—even in moments when I couldn’t quite see it myself. He’s been my biggest cheerleader through every new chapter, whether it was starting my travel business, stepping into motherhood, or going back to school for real estate. His constant encouragement and belief in me have pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined.

My mom and several close family members have also played a huge role. They’ve always reminded me of my strength, potential, and the importance of staying true to who I am. I’m so thankful to have a support system that lifts me up, speaks life into me, and celebrates every win—big or small—along the way.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain and started using it as power during my postpartum journey. Becoming a mom changed everything—physically, emotionally, and mentally. I faced unexpected struggles that left me feeling lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of who I was outside of motherhood. But instead of staying stuck in that space, I chose to use it as fuel. I realized I wanted more for myself—not just for my baby, but for the woman I was becoming. That shift lit a fire in me to chase my goals unapologetically, to share my journey honestly, and to create a life filled with purpose, growth, and joy—even in the messiest seasons.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I’d say the public version of me is definitely part of the real me—but not the whole picture. What you see online or in person is my true personality: outgoing, driven, and positive. But like most people, there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes—especially navigating new motherhood, juggling multiple passions, and learning as I grow. I try to show up as authentically as possible, whether I’m sharing wins or being real about the hard stuff. At the end of the day, I’m proud of who I’m becoming, and I’m learning to embrace every version of myself—public and private—with grace.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think what people may most misunderstand about my legacy is thinking it all came easily—that I somehow “had it all together” or that things just fell into place. What they might not see is the quiet battles behind the scenes—the late nights, the self-doubt, the growing pains, and the constant balancing act of being a mom, building a business, and chasing big dreams. My hope is that when people look back, they see not just what I did, but why I did it: to create a life full of intention, love, and purpose—not just for me, but for my daughter and the people I care about most.
