We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nicole Morehead. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Nicole , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My son and I are learning to play the piano and speak French. Playing the piano was a childhood dream of mine, and it has brought me great joy. It is also a step towards my son’s musical goals. Seeing him move forward and grow brings immense happiness.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Nicole and I am the owner of Destination Life Photography, an adventure elopement company.
I specialize in designing unique elopements; each elopement day is tailored to the couple. So it is a fun, joyous and memorable experience completely centered around them. My goal is to give them an elopement story to tell over and over.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Experiencing the same things bonds people, which is why you become so close to the people you work with the shared life experiences. So in the same way you can create bonds with people through sharing new life experiences with them. People drift apart as they grow and change and walk different paths but the string that ties you together is still there. Breaking a bond comes through distrust and the only way to repair it is honesty.
Which is why it’s so important to always be someone people can rely on. For your legacy to be one of kindness, genuineness, and dependability.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were several times in my career when I thought of giving up. Early on, I was traveling a lot, which was a fantastic life experience. But rebuilding a business from scratch every time we moved became frustrating. I tended to judge myself based on my years of experience, not time in the area. They teach you nothing about business in photography school, just how to be a great photographer. So learning business and marketing was I degree I had to learn on my own. Thankfully, I have never been short on resilience, and my husband was patient and supported me in following my dreams as a photographer and a mother.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Mindset is fundamental to every part of our life. And being grateful and positive and exuding that to other is essential to our growth as people and in business.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would close my social media accounts and never touch them again. Because life is out here in the real world and I would want to experience new things and soak up every moment in the world with the people that I love.
