Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Nolan Sritan of The Gulch

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nolan Sritan. Check out our conversation below.

Nolan, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
My customers understand that life isn’t pretty. As someone who grew up in a broken home, I know first hand that life is hard and complicated. I relate to clients that also had a difficult upbringing or past. I try to shed light on them for as long as I can through photography. I want people to be reminded that they are beautiful and amazing, no matter what their life has looked like.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! My name is Nolan Sritan and I am a photographer in Nashville, TN. I strive to capture portraits of people that tell their story and make them feel powerful. I love when clients get to feel like supermodels that belong on the covers of magazines. I’ve been a wedding photographer for over a decade and now I love capturing editorial portraits!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad taught me the most about work. He immigrated from Thailand when he was 16 years old and has successfully ran a graphic design business for about 40 years! I grew up watching him network and build connections with his customers. He taught me about work ethic and how you have to get up and go find it. He’s the hardest working person I know and I’m lucky to have him as my dad.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could talk to my younger self, I would tell him to stay true to yourself. Never give up on your dreams because they don’t align with someone else.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would hope that my closest friends and family know that my relationships really matter to me. I love people and developing connections with everyone that I work with. I strive to make people feel heard and comfortable.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that people remember me by how I made them feel. As a photographer, I’m given unique opportunities to capture moments and memories for other people. Anyone that has been in front of my camera knows that I like to make them feel beautiful and amazing. I hope that people remember how much effort I put into my work.
