PhotosByZo, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
The thing I’m most proud of building that nobody see’s is the relationship I create for myself & for others. I do a lot of connecting the dots as for putting the right people together. For example I had connected multi platinum producer Yung Lan & Grammy Award winning producer Zaytoven together for a studio session. That’s just an example of things nobody see’s.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m PhotosByZo a Celebrity Photographer in the music industry , also Zaytoven’s official photographer. I do a lot of work for big artist like Future , BigX , Key Glock , Hoodrich Pablo Juan , Finesse2Tymes & many more. I been a photographer for 6 years now , through years I’ve been growing my resume & my connections to get to the point where it becomes bigger than photography. Now days I do a lot of A&R , Management & Artist Development work in the music industry.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped me was a guy by the name of Patrick Walker-Reese who’s a motivational speaker based in Nashville TN. When I was a Freshman in High school he had came to speak to my class & the main thing that stuff out to me is “You gotta want it more than the air you breathe”. That stuck with me & made me lock in more on my goals which shaped me into who I am today.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes there were many times I wanted to give up , things wasn’t going my way , being mentally drained & things like that. The main thing we have to understand is “through every tunnel is light”. Meaning we gone have some dark days & sometimes feel unmotivated, but we’ll also have good days & have all the motivation in world. You just gotta try to be the best version of yourself & make the best out of any situation you’re in. JUST DON’T STOP
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
The person I admire for their character & not their power is Zaytoven. He’s a multi platinum & Grammy Award-winning music producer known for working with Artist like Gucci Mane , Future , Migos , Usher , Drake , 21 Savage & many more. The reason I admire Zaytoven is because he’s the most humble & genuine person in the music industry. Having all the success in his life he still manage to go to church every Sunday & play piano. Zay also never smoked or drank alcohol that shows he has morals which he hold him self to a high standard.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell is that PhotosByZo is the coolest person you’ll meet , very down to earth , genuine, humble , smart , respectful , charismatic & life of the party. Also one of the hardest working photographer known to man. Bringing excitement & amazing energy anywhere he went.
