Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Tanir Morrison & Jordan Ezquerro & Amelia Eisenhauer of Kingston Springs

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tanir Morrison & Jordan Ezquerro & Amelia Eisenhauer. Check out our conversation below.

Tanir & Jordan & Amelia, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Our experience in music industry is that there is no such thing as normal because the schedules are so fluid! An average day for us at Brunjo can look like a recording session in one room, music lessons being taught in another, and plans to attend an event that evening; or it could look like completely dismantling the studio to rewire and rework the signal flow. Every day is a toss of a coin because it can be so unpredictable, but it’s fantastic for those who love to stay on their toes!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Brunjo Music Productions is a trio that specializes in helping artists through every step of the process of bringing their music to life! We met while we were in school at Berklee College of Music and at first were just close friends, but soon we discovered that shared a passion for not only producing artists on our own, but working in collaboration with each other. We decided to make a production company together and voila- Brunjo Productions was born!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that changed and defined how we viewed the world and our future in it was absolutely the pandemic, it’s the largest understatement ever to say that nothing was the same after that. We were in our junior year of college, excited to start our last stretch towards graduation, when we were all sent back home and told we would not be returning. It was alarming to see how panicked even the professors were… These were experienced industry legends and leading experts in their fields, and they were completely dumbfounded just like the rest of us. It was then that it became overwhelmingly obvious that the world had permanently shifted- and we had better figure out how to navigate it. The idea to form a production company had come about shortly before this, and we decided to go after it full force and give it a shot. We opted to do a trial run production for a friend to see if the chemistry was there and the idea was viable, we did the project completely remotely over Zoom and were able to create a record despite the challenges, which we took as a green light to continue working together. With the completion of our very first project, we took off running for Nashville to set up shop in our Warehouse studio!

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
No business owner likes to admit that they wanted to stop following their dreams and passions at one point, but doubt comes for even the best of us sometimes. One of the worst bouts of hardship was earlier this year actually; we had just gone through a major shift in the inner workings of the company and found ourselves overwhelmed with the extent of changes that needed to be made- it felt like an impossible feat. The stress of restructuring was heavy on our minds, and we felt that there was no finish line in sight, but our friends and family stepped up in big ways because they believed in us and in what we’re doing with Brunjo. There are still plenty of hard moments when everything seems dark and daunting, but our friends, family, and clients come through and remind us of why we love what we do so much.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
It’s hard not to be our most authentic selves when we’re in the studio, our line of work is so personal that it would be almost impossible not to be! We often work closely with someone for weeks on end, listening to the same track over and over. Studio work can get tedious and frustrating, so if you aren’t being genuine with the folks you’re creating with, it can lead to a bad experience all around. We approach our sessions with open spirits and curious minds, and love to be able to connect with our artists in such a cool way!

When it comes to our social media presence, our “One Minute Interviews” are as real as it gets! The only thing said to the artists and musicians is that it may happen at any time, but that’s all the information they get. We’ll quite literally burst through the door and ask some of the most unexpected, off-the-cuff questions as fast as possible, and their responses may shock you! It’s always a funny and chaotic result.

Ultimately, it’s important to be your truest authentic self both online and offline so that folks know what to expect from you and your business, and we want to show artists who we are and what we do!

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
To us, music is inherently about legacy. The act of recording is about capturing a moment in time- be that a thought, a feeling, a cultural phenomenon, or simply a desire to be heard. Some of our artists are chasing the next big break, some are searching for their own style, and others just want to have fun; all want to hear their songs live and breathe through the art of recording music. No matter what an artist’s scope is, our mindset stays the same- we are here to collaborate with artists and songwriters and to facilitate the growth of music at any stage, from writing to mastering.

If anything, we hope people will remember the long sessions, the jokes made while mixing, and even the stress of racing a PR deadline. We hope they’ll tell the stories behind making the record while they listen to it with their loved ones. To us, that’s just as much a part of the music as the notes themselves.
