Today we’d like to introduce you to Ainsley Britain.
Hi Ainsley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My move to Nashville in 2011 was spontaneous and quick, deciding on a Friday and arriving two days later on a Monday. I had visited once, MAYBE twice, but I felt the call to move, so move I did.
It was the place I learned the most about myself, my passions, and my faith. I was 19 when I made the move so I was looking for a college to finish my degree. I literally just applied to the first one that popped up on Google, which happened to be Belmont University. I graduated there and embarked on my career in writing shortly after!
“Hearts and Rockets” was my first self-published book and I’m now working on a book with David C. Cook called, “Don’t Date a Boo Boo Dude.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like anyone trying to “make it” in a non-linear career such as writing, being an artist, and creative work in general, the journey has not been without struggle.
I know I’m not alone when I think about the 2 am self-doubt sessions or on the flip side, the celebrations when a new idea was launched into the world.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an author with one self-published book out now, “Hearts and Rockets,” and one traditionally published book available for purchase on August 2nd, 2022 called, “Don’t Date a BooBoo Dude.”
I think the title of my latest work gives people a giggle which I love because it’s a light way to have a serious conversation about raising standards in dating, realizing self-worth, and removing shame from the dating game.
It’s different than most dating books because we discuss normal dating scenarios, but we really dive into abusive relationships and identify if you’re in one. Not only that but how to help a friend who may be in one and what red flags and green flags to look for in dating.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Ha, I think my tenacity has lent to me being where I am now.
A lot of people questioned what I was doing and wondered if I’d ever achieve my lofty goals. I’m certainly still in the process but I think the determination to keep going was what led me here.
