Life & Work with Alexis Frazier of Donelson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Frazier

Hi Alexis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From a young age, I recognized that my heart belonged to the beauty industry. Growing up alongside my best friend, who is now a hairstylist, we dedicated countless hours to experimenting with each other’s hair and nails. Our shared passion for beauty and fashion became an integral part of our lives. As I transitioned into adulthood, my focus shifted to education, prioritizing my college journey. As a first-generation college student, I made the decision to enlist in the United States Army to help support my academic goals, which ultimately led me to Tennessee.

After fulfilling my service, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Tennessee State University. Once I accomplished these important milestones, I found myself pondering what my next steps should be. I wanted to pursue further education but was uncertain about the specific direction. Suddenly, an idea struck me: Cosmetology school! It was the perfect opportunity to reignite my passion. Within just two weeks, I enrolled in Paul Mitchell Murfreesboro and began classes.

It felt surreal, as if everything was aligned perfectly. From that moment on, I committed myself fully to my new path. In July 2023, I proudly graduated from cosmetology school and successfully completed all segments of the state board examinations. Now, as a full-time hairstylist, I specialize in various areas, including natural hair care, hair coloring, and extensions. Additionally, I’ve launched a Raw Cambodian extensions business, which is an exciting venture.

Being a full-time entrepreneur has always been a dream of mine, and I feel incredibly blessed to be doing what I adore every single day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey I embarked on was certainly not without its challenges. While pursuing my education in cosmetology, I maintained a full-time position in corporate America, attending classes in the evening after work. My days typically began at 5 am, and I often found myself in class until 10 pm.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t give up on your dreams! Always keep your end goal in mind, especially during difficult times!
