Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Rutherford.

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m always decorating and throwing events and my family and friends always encouraged me to be an event planner, however, I did not feel like it was my passion. I knew I wanted to have my own business someday, but I wanted to make sure it was something I would not get burnt out on. For a year, I went back and forth with event planning and party rental equipment since I had accumulated so many things from baby showers and parties I had planned in the past.

One day, I attended my friend’s anniversary party and it hit me how these 360 photo booths are in high demand. I went home that night and researched every aspect of the business, equipment, etc. I called my friend the next morning and told her, “I got it! I will start a 360 Photo Booth business.” She agreed I had the personality for it and would do great working with people. A few months later, I launched iSnap Party Rentals.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I do not believe any business starting off is a smooth road. It’s so much time and money you put into your business and you do not know if you will even prosper, which was my biggest fear at first.

I was so worried about, will I get booked. What if I’m charging too much? Or not enough? I procrastinated for months with launching. I realized I had to have faith in myself and my business! Once I got out of my head and launched, I’ve literally booked 3-4 events a month since August.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I have a daily motivational affirmation app that I read every day. I try to incorporate that into my everyday life. It’s always good to continue to better yourself as a person and as a business owner.
