Life & Work with Billy Gemmill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Billy Gemmill.

Hi Billy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Knoxville, but moved to Nashville in 1st grade – my parents were both musicians – dad was a studio drummer and my mom had a pub/record deal with Buddy Killen’s ‘ Tree International Publishing’ and KMG Records. I helped my mom soundcheck and dad load in his drums at various studios around town. That’s where I got bit – I spent a lot of time playing drums in various bands, skateboarding, and throwing concerts in my stepmom’s basement when she and my dad were out of town. At 21, I was given the opportunity to become a model with Next. I spent the next 10 years between New York, Paris, Milan, Chicago, and Los Angeles. During that time, I worked with industry-leading production companies, artist management companies, and touring agencies, eventually deciding to launch my own company – SIX ONE LIVE – a nod to my hometown of Nashville.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, not at all. Too many to list, but man, it’s worth it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Based in Nashville, Tennessee, SIX ONE LIVE is a creative production house that provides production and general management services, including consultation and operation of both traditional and non-traditional touring, festivals, exhibits, concerts, special event presentations, commercials, branded content, music videos, and TV/Film.

I’m proud to serve others and provide them with positive experiences.

What makes you happy?
My family – baby boy Lliam and my wife- Kendall. They’re my everything.
