Life & Work with “book NOT brooke” of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to “book NOT brooke”

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a cellist, singer & and ex-GarageBand for iPhone user who has since graduated to Logic Pro X, where I produce, record & mix my project.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I used to view creating music as one process, recording as I wrote and carving away at each sound until the vision was complete & volume levels comparable to the music I consumed. I started releasing music before I knew what mixing or mastering even were. It was liberating to trust my own process without really having any clue what I was doing. I am grateful for the technical skills I have learned along the way, but often long to reconnect with that essence of creative freedom prior to acquiring preconceived notions about how music “should be” made.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In addition to writing and producing my music, I enjoy creating visuals to accompany my work. My favorite visual work thus far has been the music video for “Barely Even Found,” co-directed by me and my dear friend Sam Toth – shot by her and edited by me. I really enjoy unifying a multi-media vision via music production, video editing, and performance. I am also in “Baby Wave”, an alternative band in collaboration with Jakob Bibb & Gardner Gottsegen.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
You can listen to my music (“book NOT brooke”) and my band’s music (“Baby Wave”) on all streaming platforms, from Spotify to Bandcamp. I have some videos out on YouTube under the same name. You can follow me on Instagram (where I am most active) at @booknotbrooke. DM me if you’d like to be added to an email list for show updates, releases & more!
