Today we’d like to introduce you to Camden West.
Hi Camden, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a family that loved music. My parents exposed me to all sorts of music, especially classic rock. When I saw the Rolling Stones for the first time, that’s when I knew that this is what I wanted to do. I was put into music lessons from a young age with the hopes of being a drummer and then eventually moved to start playing the guitar. I joined one of my first bands in middle school called “Gunshow” and began writing music and singing. Throughout high school I kept writing and playing as many shows as possible. I attended the University of Arizona where at first studied classical guitar while at the same time playing the local clubs and coffee shops. After graduating, I moved back home to Las Vegas and joined the local music scene where I would spend the next year or two honing my craft before moving to Nashville, TN. I have spent a lot of time on the road playing music all around the world including places like Uganda, Cambodia and all throughout Europe.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not always the smoothest of roads but the love of writing and performing outshines everything else. Being independent in this industry isn’t always easy based on the every changing road. There is no one way of doing things which makes it fun. There is always a way of being creative and always something that keeps me on my feet. I’m always learning and always learning working on trying on new hats. Nothing is easy, but that’s what makes it fun.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer/songwriter that writes about my life experiences. I make a living off of playing shows and getting to travel the world. There is always a new experience to be gained and new people to meet. I have released a lot of music which is available online at www.CamdenWest.com along with all streaming services.
I’m very proud of my music and just released a new single titled, “Bird On A Wire”. I have a lot more music on the way!
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned to be open minded and learn about my surroundings. It’s good to open your eyes wherever you are and to take in all there is. There will always be inspiration if you take time to enjoy the little things.
