Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Hill.
Hi Cassandra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Speaking has been a gift since childhood. I can recall as a child making a microphone and walking around the house speaking to my parents and anyone else who would listen. As a college student, I used my voice to speak on issues like healthcare disparities and healthy aging.
Entering the corporate world consumed much of my time. During this time, my speaking took a back seat. Honestly, although I had a passion to share knowledge and impact lives, I didn’t realize that speaking was a means to do that and earn a living.
One day, an acquaintance invited me to speak at a women’s empowerment event. Initially, I was hesitant to accept, so I told her that if she couldn’t find anyone else, I would accept. As life would have no one else was booked. To my surprise, I spoke and received a standing ovation. At this point, I realized that speaking would become a major factor in my life.
Additionally, I am passionate about guiding women toward emotional and mental well-being. This shapes the work I do as a domestic violence advocate. As a Master Life Coach, the goal is to navigate the journey for a woman to live life on her terms.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path to fulfilling vision has not been smooth. Entrepreneurship is something that found me; I hadn’t planned for it. Working in corporate for over a decade was draining. Eventually, my body shut down, and I was diagnosed with lupus. The physical and emotional strain on my body was challenging, especially when I first became an entrepreneur.
Being ill also meant walking away from my career, which greatly impacted my finances. Losing income required me to relocate home with family and make several other drastic changes in my life.
Starting a business with limited income and access to capital required out-of-the-box thinking to ensure a solid foundation was laid for my business. Whether it was working an outside job while building the business or learning how to effectively write grants, I was able to secure capital that allowed my business to have stability.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Cassandra Hill is a thought leader known as the Transformation Agent for Black Women. She leaves a lasting impression on the people she is called to serve. As a Master Life Coach, Cassandra works mostly with Black women on restoring their mind, body, and soul.
Domestic violence is near and dear to Cassandra’s heart. As an advocate, she has offered pro bono life coaching for women who experience domestic violence. One in three women will experience domestic violence. According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, forty-five percent of Black women experience domestic violence. Cassandra has developed an initiative to gift copies of the Love Letters to My Girls book to young ladies at colleges and universities across the country as a way to increase self-love and alleviate the domestic violence epidemic plaguing Black females.
Today I am most proud of the lives God has blessed me to impact. The woman who is battling lupus or any condition and looks at me and can continue the fight to thrive in life. Someone who is in an unhealthy relationship and leaves knowing that better days are ahead. These are the things that put a smile on my face.
Cassandra is in her own category. She is committed and dedicated to doing the work God has called her to do. One clear distinction that sets her apart is her uncanny ability to apply her clinical knowledge with personal experience to develop frameworks that transform lives.
