Life & Work with Chace Skelton of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chace Skelton.

Hi Chace, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was chosen to sing the National Anthem at my Kindergarten graduation. No one knew I could sing until that day. My mom immediately got me into singing and performing. It planted a seed a young age that I eventually realized was my calling. Years of mistakes, learning, and a rededication of my faith led me to pursuing being a Christian artist. I finally felt at peace with what I was writing and producing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! Haha! I had to really grind and still do. I’ve been told that I wasn’t good enough or just completely ignored so many times. I also had to learn to get out of my own way. I had to learn to trust God with it and just start moving. When I stopped focusing so much on the outcomes and more on the process and enjoying that aspect of it. I started to move more. Rejection and being around people way more talented than you can really make you better if you let it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Christian music artist. I write upbeat Christian Pop music that always has a groove or a good beat to it. I like music that makes me move so I create music that does just that. I’d say I’m most known for my Worship Anthem “Heart’s On Fire.” I’m most proud that I have been able to continue pursuing this dream and following God’s calling raising 3 young children. I think something that makes me different is that I write, produce, and mix all of my own music. I think it’s helped me create a definable sound that is uniquely my own.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think AI is a big factor in music. It’s hard to predict but artist are already using these tools. I think that as AI grows and gets more and more efficient, artist will use it more and more. I also think there may be a big sect of people that reject it entirely and some music will get more raw and less “perfect” as a result.
