Life & Work with Christian Colon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Colon.

Hi Christian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started tattooing professionally After serving six years in the United States Air Force. I sought out an apprenticeship that started in Clarksville, TN. In 2007 and have been tattooing since. Excluding a 2-year hiatus, I took from dealing with disabilities incurred during my time in service. I had an ileostomy pouch from the years 2017-2019. Once I had my reversal, I had a couple of friends reach out to me that worked at Icon tattoo and asked me to come guest spot to see if I’d be interested in a more permanent position. I started August 8, 2019, with an icon tattoo, And I’ve been here since. Nashville has been very good to me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Started off tattooing in Clarkesville, it’s a military town. There are several other tattoo shops in a very small radius very close to the military base, so competition was cutthroat. Also being a military town, it made it pretty hard to establish a long-term clientele being that the military gets stationed at different bases every 2 to 4 years. Working in Nashville, I’ve been able to establish a regularly recurring clientele with locals, and also with people that visit Nashville a few times a year. Plus, I got to meet and tattoo Darius Rucker. He was such a great guy.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professionally licensed tattoo artist since 2007. I specialize in various styles of work to include, but not limited to, black and grey, colorwork, fine line, lettering, traditional, neo-traditional, realism, and illustrative.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
