Today we’d like to introduce you to Cordell and Katrina Frazier.
Hi Cordell and Katrina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello, shoe enthusiasts! We are thrilled to introduce you to our passion project and labor of love – Sorority Bottoms.
Although my journey into the world of shoe design began first as an observer, eagerly accompanying my wife on her shoe-shopping adventures, her love for shoes and her sorority inspired me and over time, I found myself captivated by the way a well-crafted pair of shoes can make a woman feel confident and empowered.
So one day I was watching my wife get dressed for work putting on one of her favorite pairs of heels and the thought came to me to create a collection of footwear that not only meets the highest standards of quality and comfort but also embraces the spirit of sisterhood she adored so much. At that moment the idea for Sorority Bottoms was born.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having an idea for a shoe line is completely different than making it come to fruition. Therefore in retrospect, it has not been a smooth process.
Getting the idea on paper was the first step and we had many renditions of what the first shoe line would entail. However, we knew we wanted something classy, simple and elegant. Finding an artist who could make the drawings exactly as we discussed was the first challenge but we learned that if you keep editing you’ll get there.
Although this vision started six years ago, we encountered several issues with procuring a shoe manufacturer. It was difficult to find a manufacturer to produce the shoe in the way that I had envisioned without astronomical costs associated with it which would be placed on the consumer.
Additionally, several manufacturers had difficulty making the design for the Soror Heel without the colors bleeding into one another. But, finally, we were able to find a manufacturer to execute and engineer our vision.
Once we found a manufacturer to produce the shoe, we had the manufacturer provide us with samples of the shoes. At first, we did the two-tone colors to see which color should be the dominant color for the shoe bottoms. But when we showed it to our daughters, they loved the two tones, so we stuck with them! That’s how we have the two tone design on the bottoms of the heels.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to us is living out our purpose through the success of Sorority Bottoms.
Whether it is creating shoes that make women feel powerful or giving back to our communities, we want others to know that living in your purpose is the greatest reward that anyone could receive during this lifetime. We believe that each of us have gifts and talents to share with the world. And Sorority Bottoms is one of our gifts we can share with others.
