Life & Work with Courtney Glenn of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Glenn.

Hi Courtney , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey has always been rooted in one thing: helping people feel seen, confident, and empowered.

I began my career as a licensed cosmetologist, where I discovered that doing hair was about so much more than beauty. Every client who sat in my chair left with more confidence than when they arrived, and I quickly realized that making women feel good about themselves was my true passion.

That passion eventually led me into content creation after being discovered by a TikTok agency. I built a community of more than 56,000 followers by creating plus-size fashion content that celebrated confidence and self-love. While I was introducing women to clothing they could feel beautiful in, I was also encouraging them to embrace who they were. My platform became about much more than fashion—it became a place where women felt represented, uplifted, and inspired.

As my platform grew, I naturally transitioned into coaching, teaching creators how to build confidence on live video and grow their own communities. Through coaching, I learned just how powerful genuine connection and community can be, not only for others but for myself as well.

That season of my life also challenged me to begin pouring into myself after years of constantly pouring into everyone else. I started taking myself on solo dates, exploring new places, and rediscovering the joy of experiencing life on my own. What began as personal healing turned into a completely new passion.

Today, I’ve combined everything I’ve learned into my work as a Nashville travel and lifestyle creator. I love highlighting the restaurants, hotels, hidden gems, and local businesses that make this city special while encouraging others to experience Nashville with confidence—whether they’re visiting for the first time or simply looking for something new in their own backyard.

At the heart of everything I do, the mission has remained the same. Whether I was behind a salon chair, live on TikTok, coaching creators, or showcasing Nashville, my goal has always been to help people feel inspired, confident, and connected. I believe every experience has prepared me for the work I’m doing today, and I’m excited to continue sharing my city while supporting the businesses and communities that make it thrive.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs and creators, I’ve had to reinvent myself more than once. After building a successful platform on TikTok, I unexpectedly had to start over after losing one of my pages. I also learned that not every business partnership or opportunity is the right fit, and those experiences pushed me to become more independent.

When I transitioned into coaching, I loved helping others grow, but I eventually realized I was pouring so much energy into everyone else’s dreams that I had stopped investing in my own. Around that same time, therapy helped me recognize how people-pleasing had become a pattern in both my personal life and my business.

That realization changed everything. Instead of constantly seeking fulfillment through serving everyone else, I began intentionally pouring back into myself. I started taking solo trips, exploring my own city, enjoying staycations, and rediscovering who I was outside of work.

Looking back, every setback became a redirection. Those experiences didn’t just shape my career—they shaped me. They led me to the work I’m most passionate about today: encouraging others to embrace new experiences, support local businesses, and realize that spending time with yourself can be one of the most rewarding investments you’ll ever make.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating authentic travel, lifestyle, and hospitality content that showcases the best of Nashville through the eyes of a local. As a Nashville native, I love introducing both visitors and locals to hidden gems, boutique hotels, restaurants, rooftop experiences, and local businesses that make this city so special.

What I’m most proud of is building a career that has always centered around serving people. Whether I was behind the salon chair as a cosmetologist, encouraging women through plus-size fashion, coaching creators, or creating travel content today, my mission has remained the same: to help people feel inspired, confident, and connected.

I believe what sets me apart is authenticity. I don’t simply visit places—I create experiences that make people feel like they’re exploring Nashville alongside a trusted friend. My audience knows they’re getting honest recommendations from someone who genuinely loves supporting local businesses and helping others discover new experiences.

One of the messages that has become especially important to me is encouraging people to step outside of solitude and start living intentionally. I believe taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of everyone else. Whether it’s taking yourself on a solo date, enjoying a staycation, spending an afternoon at a local spa, going for a walk, or simply trying a new restaurant, I want my content to remind people that it’s okay to pour back into themselves. You only get one life, and I hope my content inspires others to experience it fully, embrace new adventures, and realize they don’t have to wait on someone else to start enjoying the world around them.

Beyond creating content, I also enjoy building relationships within my community. I love collaborating with hotels, restaurants, and small businesses to tell their stories in a way that feels natural, engaging, and relatable. My goal is to inspire people to get out, explore their city, support local, and create memorable experiences of their own.

At the end of the day, I don’t just create content—I create connection. Whether it’s connecting people to local businesses, introducing them to experiences they may have never discovered, or encouraging someone to reconnect with themselves through solo adventures and self-care, that’s the impact I hope every piece of content leaves behind.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be this: be unapologetically yourself. The world doesn’t need another copy of someone else—it needs the unique gifts and perspective that only you can bring.

It’s easy to get caught up in comparison or feel like you have to follow someone else’s blueprint for success, but I’ve learned that the most fulfilling path is the one that feels aligned with who you are. Whether you’re building a business, creating content, changing careers, or simply discovering yourself, don’t let outside opinions drown out what you know you’ve been called to do.

Not everyone will understand your vision, and that’s okay. Some dreams are meant to be protected before they’re shared. I’ve learned that your goals don’t have to make sense to everyone else—they only have to make sense to you and to God. Stay focused, be consistent, and keep showing up, even when no one is clapping for you yet.

Most importantly, do what you genuinely love. Don’t chase money alone—chase purpose. When you love what you do, people can feel it. Passion creates impact, and impact creates opportunities.

Finally, keep God at the center of everything you build. He’s the foundation of my life and every decision I make. I’ve learned that when your plans are rooted in faith, purpose, and obedience, you’re building on something that can withstand every setback. Success may not always happen overnight, but if you stay faithful, stay authentic, and keep moving forward, everything you’re building will flourish in the time it’s meant to.
