Life & Work with Daniel Reed of Mt. Juliet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Reed.

Hi Daniel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Photography & Video was never something I saw myself doing. For the last 8yrs I have been in full-time ministry working for local churches as a worship leader, creative director, and even an executive & associate pastor. I’ve always enjoyed being in this line of work and service. I’ve often found myself having to learn new skills in order to help the local church grow, and in that process I stumbled into photography.

What started out as taking a few photos of services, events, and headshots for our website, slowly lead to people asking me to do some portrait and family photos. This sparked my curiosity. I began taking my camera with me everywhere I went and testing my ability to capture meaningful moments. This turned into more photography work and eventually morphed into the idea to begin a small business!

Reedhouse Media began on May 1st of 2025 and it has been a wonderful adventure ever since! Meeting new people, capturing special memories, and working behind the scenes with my beautiful wife, are what truly excite me to keep growing this business. I’m truly thankful to have discovered photography, and now see myself doing this for a long time to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish I could say the journey has been smooth sailing, but this is definitely not the case. I could drill down on many issues that specifically relate to photography, but the much larger issue I’ve encountered would greatly apply to all small business owners… and that’s the imposter syndrome.

If you’ve never heard of it, I encourage you to read “Overcoming The Imposter” by Kris Kelso. But here’s the definition, “the persistent inability to believe that one’s success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved as a result of one’s own efforts or skills.”. This is a very real struggle for someone stepping out to accomplish something meaningful to them. I’ve found that having the right support system in place (i.e. faith, church, family, friends, etc) has kept me in a mostly positive place when facing challenges. The greatest encouragement I receive often comes from people I trust to give me the truth, good or bad, and in a way that I know will help me be successful.

THIS is a hard, but beautiful lesson I’m continuing to learn.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m currently a full-time pastor at We Are Church Nashville in Old Hickory, TN. My role here is I serve as an associate pastor and am in charge of social media, service production, assimilations, ministry staffing and development, worship leading, and discipleship. My family and I have been with this church, collectively, for 4yrs and are so blessed to be part of a smaller local church that truly feels like family.

Before my time in ministry, I have worked as a janitor, customer service rep, car salesman, personal trainer, and a variety of other jobs. I’ve always felt like I was all over the place professionally, and I believe this truly helped me form an entrepreneurial mindset that embraces change and new challenges with enthusiasm.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My faith and my family. God blessed me with the life I have, and He surely blessed me with my wife Cathy and our three children. In the best moments and in the worst, their love for me will always be my rock.
