Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Turner.
Hi Erica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The last few years have been hard on our family, as in 2018, I was diagnosed with Cancer. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for 8 years and have always loved being able to do anything that allowed me to use my creative side, but definitely anything that allowed me to carry out my “extra-ness!”
My journey started in January 2021, when a friend from high school approached me and asked if I would be interested in starting a business with her. We started a week later and things really took off I was so excited to start doing something I love! We were in CA at the time and decided since everything was still on lockdown, that we should start with picnics where couples could have date nights since restaurants were closed.
After about a month of that, we started doing bridal showers, girls’ brunches, couples nights, baby showers, etc. As the last year has gone on, we have expanded our events to larger scales and have thoroughly enjoyed that!
Every event that is done, reminds me how much joy it brings me to be able to bring someone else’s vision to life, to help memories last forever as you experience unforgettable moments, and to provide services so that you can enjoy the event and not have a single worry!
Being able to see smiles on faces and knowing that our clients are satisfied, make all of the preparation and time worth it! Every detail matters to us and it’s our goal to make sure each and every event is nothing short of your vision!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Our biggest hurdle since starting our business, was when I found out my family was moving to Tennessee. This meant that our business was going to split and that was definitely overwhelming for both of us.
Trying to build a new community of people in a new place and knowing business was going to at least initially be done on my own was scary, but thankfully, I have met so many amazing new friends and people that I am so excited to work with!
Being in a new place has also obviously allowed for new territories to explore and a wide range of people to serve in our new community and I am so thankful for that!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We own Tying Knots Event Rentals and we provide all event planning services, balloon garlands and arches, backdrops, flowers, tablescapes, and everything for each event from start to finish!
I take my work very seriously, plan out every detail possible and make each event different from the rest. Every detail whether it’s big or small matters! I am so proud of how we have pushed through even the split in us as business partners, and have continued to build our business in two separate places!
The sky is the limit and every event I put on makes me that much more excited for the next!
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Through COVID and being in a place where everything was completely shut down.
We realized that even in the midst of a pandemic, people still need to have things to look forward to, whether it be a date night in (or out), a child’s birthday to be celebrated, an anniversary, or elopement, etc.
We make sure that everything is deep cleaned and sanitized in between and during COVID we would mask, take temperatures and log them, and take all of the proper precautions that we needed.
