Life & Work with Giovanni Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovanni Jones.

Hi Giovanni, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started on this journey when I was 2 years old. My mother started me out with Pageants and competing in Hawaiian Tropic competitions. When I started to get older, my mother noticed that I had this comedic side, and we began exploring acting. I was about 10 years old when I started and began attending classes at Barbizon to teach me runway modeling, print modeling, and acting. After attending Barbizon for some time, we began to search for agents, and shortly after, I was signed to an agent in San Francisco and Los Angeles. At 12 years old, I started booking roles with Paypal, Big Lots, Macy’s, Nickelodeon, and much more. I continued acting and modeling and then moved to Los Angeles when I turned 20. After moving to Los Angeles, I started to get into a new field: becoming a social media influencer. I began working with and collaborating with brands such as Dose & Co, Peter Thomas Roth, and Emsculpt at select med spas. Things began to pick up quickly from here.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a completely smooth road. There have been some hiccups along the way. The period from 2014-2018 was challenging. I lost my sister, my aunt, and my uncle. It took a lot of time for me to process this since so much was happening. Besides personal issues, my other struggle was my agency in San Francisco going out of business and having to find a new one. This made it harder to book gigs, but I never gave up!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in acting, modeling, and content creation. I have several productions you will recognize; this includes Nickelodeon, Snapchat campaigns, and PSAs. I am most proud of my PSA work since it allows me to use my influence to the most positive effect. Also, my personality and work ethic set me apart from others.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those just starting.
My greatest advice would be, “Do not stop.” Things take time! The entertainment industry is based on connections, credits, and people you have worked with. I recommend signing up for websites such as Casting Networks and Backstage. Start by self-submitting, and do not forget to get professional headshots. If you cannot afford them, take some photos against a white wall and touch them up on your phone. Submit to everything and attend every audition possible. This will help you gain the skills, boost knowledge and improve each time since you will see your competition at your auditions.
