Today we’d like to introduce you to Harry Hinch.
Hi Harry, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I (Harry) met our bassist, Paul , and I asked him if he wanted to jam, and the rest is history. Since then, we’ve come together alongside various drummers in local venues around Nashville. About eight months in, we are preparing to release our self-titled first album on May 26th.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our biggest challenge that we’ve faced was our first drummer. There were a lot of performance issues leading up to a meltdown in the studio, and then later that day led to a physical altercation between him and me. We’ve since moved on from him, and sort of in between drummers right now.
Other than that, we’ve just been going to local shows and supporting others, which in turn has helped us gather a lot of support for ourselves. It’s definitely challenging to put in the work it takes to be successful in this industry, but we’re doing our best.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We make music. Most people would think that in a city so saturated with art and music it’s very difficult to stand out. We’ve found that there’s so many similarly sounding country artists, that it’s opened up a niche for a tight young rock band that we’ve slid right into. That’s not an attack at those bands at all – many of them are far better musicians than us – but there’s definitely an over-saturation. I think there’s a huge opportunity here for people who aren’t in this city, because they stand out, especially in a genre that brings the high energy and adrenaline that country is sometimes lacking.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Our self-titled first album is releasing on June 23rd, and if you want to experience us live, we’ll have a ton of shows coming up this fall.
