Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Pugh.
Hi Heather, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, I’m Heather Rhea — Wedding Photographer, Prayer Warrior, and Storyteller of Love.
Nestled here in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee, my journey into photography really started with my love for people and stories. From an early age, I was drawn to the way a single photograph can hold an entire world of emotion — a memory frozen in time, a feeling you can revisit again and again.
I’ve spent over a decade studying photography, and for the past few years, I’ve focused solely on weddings and growing my business here in Tennessee. For me, wedding photography is so much more than pretty pictures — it’s about connection, trust, and capturing the quiet in-between moments that make each love story unique.
I believe deeply in the power of love and the beauty of commitment. Every couple I work with has a story worth telling, and it’s such an honor to get to know them — to hear about their dreams, their journey, and their hopes for the future. I don’t take it lightly that people invite me into one of the most important days of their lives.
As a Christian, my faith is the heartbeat behind everything I do. I’m not just there with my camera — I’m also there with my heart wide open, ready to pray with my couples, celebrate with them, and create an atmosphere where they feel safe, seen, and fully themselves. Before every wedding, I like to arrive early, walk through the venue, and pray over the space — inviting peace and gratitude into the day ahead.
I truly see this work as a calling. I show up with intention, purpose, and so much excitement to help my couples feel loved and cared for. I’m your biggest hype girl, a calm presence when nerves run high, and a guardian of your memories — treating every photo as if it were my own.
If there’s one thing I hope people take away when they look at my work, it’s that their love is beautiful and their story matters.
So that’s my heart and my journey — and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
Let’s make something beautiful together.
— Heather Rhea
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No — it hasn’t been easy, but I believe anything worth having takes hard work and heart. My dad always told me I could do anything if I set my mind to it, so I did just that. I studied, practiced, made mistakes, lost equipment, faced imposter syndrome — and still showed up.
Through it all, God has carried me. He keeps teaching me, provides the tools I need, and gives me peace before every photo session so I can serve my couples well.
Every challenge helped me grow my eye, my confidence, and my purpose. Now I get to step in as an Art Director for my work and pour my whole heart into every story I capture. I still dream big and do my best for everyone who trusts me with their memories.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a light and airy wedding photographer with a pop of color — I love capturing love stories in a way that feels joyful, timeless, and true to each couple.
People often tell me my upbeat personality and caring spirit help them feel comfortable in front of the camera, which means the world to me. I’m proud to create an experience where my couples can truly relax, be themselves, and trust that I’m capturing their day with heart and purpose.
I always put my clients first — from the little details to the big moments, I do my best to create a happy, safe environment so they can fully soak in every part of their wedding day.
What I’m most proud of is knowing that the photos I deliver will be carried through generations — memories they’ll share with their families for years to come. It’s an honor I never take lightly.
I believe what sets me apart is not just how I photograph, but how I love and serve the people in front of my lens. My goal is always to celebrate your story and remind you just how beautiful your love really is.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My genuine love for people. I care deeply about my couples and creating a space where they feel seen, loved, and comfortable. I believe people remember how you made them feel, so I always lead with a kind heart, a joyful spirit, and faith that God guides every step.
