Life & Work with Jacob Jones of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Jones.

Hi Jacob, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I attribute where I am today to my upbringing as a military brat. From “home to home” as I would call it because I lived everywhere, but don’t consider myself from any particular place. It exposed me to a wide variety of cultures and atmospheres and unbeknownst to me at the time made me ready for a life as a touring musician. To that point the only constant among all the change was music. No matter where I was at I always found local musicians to get plugged in with to hone my craft. Eventually that led me to relocate one more time to Nashville to pursue music full time. I’ve been blessed to have a phenomenal team. Specifically I’ll highlight my producer, Andrew King who aiding me in crafting my debut EP, “Son of a Military Man”. The success of that project elevated me to be able to get on the road and gear up for project number two, that will be announced later this year.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When you decide to be a musician obstacles are a natural part of the business. I seldom think about them because it just becomes part of the day to day. I’ve always believed you can’t control what happens to you only how you respond. That response is what determines success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I’m known for and what I’m most proud of go hand in hand, patriotism and being a mouthpiece for the military community. I never heard songs written about how I grew up as a military brat and it was my mission to change that. The other goal I have is to shed a light on veteran issues and partner with them to promote change. I wouldn’t say this sets me apart because a lot of people are doing good work, but there’s always more to be done.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Don’t focus on what other people are doing around you just focus on what you do well and be the best at that.
