Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Maree.
Alright, thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started journaling in a notebook at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic. I was sixteen at the time, and it was nothing more than my way of staying busy when the world seemed to be coming to an end. As the pandemic continued, one notebook turned into two, then three, then six, and I was starting to see the story of my life [literally] come together.
My parents also suggested that I publish my journals because they can be an asset to current and future generations. So I began the process of turning my notebooks into a series known as The Corona Chronicles. In April of 2022, I released my first book, The Beginning of the End on Amazon. It became an Amazon Bestseller within the week of its release, and that gave me the confidence to continue growing the series. I’m currently working on book two Good and Necessary Trouble, and I am extremely excited for its release.
Looking back, would you describe your journey as a relatively smooth road?
The road has had its bumps. I mean, there is nothing easy about making yourself vulnerable to the world. Even though The Corona Chronicles is just based on my life, there are still parts of the story that are difficult to write about.
At the end of the day, I’m also still a teenager, so I’ve had to balance book writing with school, athletics, and other personal challenges.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you are most proud of? What do you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from being an author, I’m a first-year Kinesiology student at North Carolina A&T State University and a future Sports Psychologist. People typically know me for my creativity and passion, from interior design ideas to storytelling to starting a club at my high school for high-achieving minorities.
I take pride in many of my accomplishments, but I’m most proud of my senior year of high school. I advocated for myself and other students of color, I made it to the State Track and Field Championship, and I graduated Valedictorian. However, I also got called to the front office four separate times for speaking up, I lost some of my friends on the track team, and I rarely wanted to attend class. I say all this to say that my senior year was my biggest accomplishment and made me the proudest because I made it through, all while making a mark that cannot be forgotten.
Lastly, the ability to speak with a pen sets me apart because I can control the narrative.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My best memories all center around spending time with my family. Especially during summer vacation, I loved going to my grandparents’ house with my cousins and family game nights.
