Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine-Isabella Grace.
Hi Jasmine-Isabella, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been interested in reading and writing ever since I was a little kid. My parents passed when I was 4 and since I didn’t have any remaining family, I was sent into the care of the crown, (I’m originally from the UK…it’s the equivalent of America’s foster care/orphanage). That’s where reading and writing really took off for me. It was a form of escapism for me. A way to take my mind off the loss of my parents and being surrounded by strangers. Eventually I was adopted by a family in the states, New York specifically.
When I graduated high school , I went to college and studied English literature/writing along with nursing. I fell in love with nursing and became an ER trauma nurse while still perusing my writing.
Writing and being a book reviewer/influencer led me to opportunities with voice acting and voice over work.
Currently I’m still working full time as an er trauma nurse, getting ready to publish my first book and am a full time book influencer.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. But nothing in life is easy. I’ve had to work for everything I have on my own with no help from anyone.
Breaking into the influencer and book world is difficult. You have to tread a really fine line with what you do and say on the internet because anything could get taken the wrong way and you’re done.
I pride myself on being honest and always saying what and how I feel with no apologies.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a full time ER Trauma Nurse. I absolutely love my job. I work as a trauma nurse which allows me to move to different places and learn more about the world while being able to help people.
I’m definitely known for being the chaotic overnight nurse haha I keep things interesting and fun. Working in the er is absolutely very difficult. You are usually helping someone who is having the most difficult time of maybe their life…and that’s especially true since I work the trauma aspect. That includes anything from motor vehicle accidents, to child abuse, gun shots, etc. we get the worse of the worse. And there’s no time to feel. There’s no time to breakdown. You are what stands between that patient and their life. So you do what you need to do and cry in your car on the way home.
What sets me apart is just my ability to see everyone I work with as a team. That includes doctors haha they are not my bosses, they are my coworkers, and sometimes they need to be reminded of that. I try to stay positive no matter what the situation.
I would say that what I’m most proud of in my entire career is definitely my work during the covid pandemic. I think every health care worker should be proud of what they did during that time. We worked 12 -16 hour days DAILY…sleeping in the hospital just to be there for the next shift starting in last than 6 hours. We were there supporting loved ones when no one else was allowed in. I made it my mission to be there for each and every one of my patients who unfortunately lost their life during that time. Holding their hand when their loved ones couldn’t because I wouldn’t want someone I loved to be alone during a time like that.
What matters most to you? Why?
Compassion. People. The world is so crazy right now. So much chaos. So much heart break. It’s important to me to show everyone kindness. Even if they don’t deserve it.
