Hi Jesse, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a small mountain town called Ben Lomond on the central coast of California. My dad is a musician and played in bands since I could remember, so I grew up watching him play. Hell’s Angel bars, backyards, car lots… they played all over the place. I got heavy into drugs in my late teens and early twenties which led me to be in and out of jail, rehab, etc. for years.
Nearly died many times and hung around with guys who spent years in and out of prison. Long story short, it was music that ultimately saved my life and got me to focus my energy on something positive. I’ve been sober for 5 years and have a life beyond my wildest dreams today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it was anything but smooth! Homelessness, drug addiction, death of close friends, jail, rehab, and the torment of being stuck on a way of life without knowing how to get yourself out.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer, songwriter, and musician.
We tour nationally and I’ve released 3 studio albums that have been acclaimed by Rolling Stone, NPR, and Sirius XM among many others. I make country music the way I think it should be made.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Going out on a Jonboat on our hometown lake with my dad as a kid.
