Today we’d like to introduce you to Kadmon Love.
Hi Kadmon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I’m Kadmon Love, an independent artist born and raised in Nashville. I grew up in a family of musicians, singers, and artists in general. I started dancing after seeing Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal. My dad taught me the basics of songwriting and producing tracks at 7 years old. Growing up I danced and performed songs at any and every opportunity, from school talent, and shows to throwing my own show in the living room or my bedroom for family and friends during the holidays. Around 2012 going into high school we formed an artist collective Life in the Front Seat that included my older brother and childhood friends and played nearly every small venue around Nashville at the time.
Throughout school, I released my first handful of songs via Soundcloud. And began performing them live around the city at local open mics and showcases. My greatest artistic influence is Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder. Other musical influences are Andre 3000, Kanye West, John Mayer, Kendrick Lamar, and Chance The Rapper. At 19 I released my debut project “GoldMember” in December 2016. After a long hiatus due to life’s happenings, and waiting on the right words to come I am now aiming to reach the world in this new age. This is the beginning.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, I would say it has been a fairly smooth road. Being an independent artist gives me the freedom to make all the final decisions on every single detail of what I do.
At the same time, there are limitations set in a place where we have to work around the industry, which also has its bright side. Any struggle that presents itself, I try and look at it as an opportunity to learn a lesson for the future.
Focusing on producing the best output, with the limited resources we have to work with at the time, is a struggle that we embrace.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My first single “Get Enough” off my forthcoming project was released on October 7th. My new project, Until the Sunrise, is set to be released this December. Until the Sunrise is my return to releasing music after a 5-year hiatus. My debut project “GoldMember” was released right out of high school in December 2016. I bring a different feel to pop music and the Nashville Hip-Hop scene in particular. I believe I represent the future of our 50 years old genre (Hip-Hop).
I am a wordsmith and love rhyming words together but I also believe that melody is king. Songs come to me while daydreaming, and can take as long as months to as quick as a couple of minutes to create. Performing has been my greatest passion for expression for as long as I can remember and putting on a show is my favorite part of being an artist. Recently Adia Victoria and Mason Hickman saw me perform and claimed that they are fans of my work. It’s very fulfilling to receive praise from fellow artists who are accomplished. I also have a deep passion for creating a better society for future generations, and building institutions that distribute resources to deprived communities, which coincides with my vision and platform.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m very proud to be from Nashville and represent a town that has helped mold me into the person I am. I plan to put as much as I possibly can back into the city as far as I intend to go with my career. Helping those that would never expect it is something that I can’t wait to start on an impactful scale, particularly the youth.
