Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Hammer.
Hi Kathy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My great Aunt manage the Genys Flowers in East Nashville for 48 years and I was a little girl 6 – 7 years old standing on a chair making corsages for Easter and Mothers Day with my Mother. My Mother taught me my love of flowers, birds , butterflies and all things beautiful. She taught me how to make a home beautiful and how to make the world a more beautiful place … I started out doing weddings and flowers for friends and after design school I started decorating for family and friends and then my best friend said to me you should be getting paid for this ! I laughed and said I guess you are right … Lol 20 years of Decorating Design and making anything and everything beautiful and designing beautiful events for special days and celebrations… I am so blessed to get to do what I do , what I love and actually get paid to do it ! I am blessed with some amazing people that I get to work with and love mentoring new floral designers and showing this new generation how to make it all happen and how important it is to go above and beyond to make yourself stand out in a market that has a abundance of talent and artistic skills. I hope I will get to make this world a more beautiful place for a very very long time to come … 💐
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been so blessed to have the talent to do many things that are related to design. Residential Commercial Design as well as a huge amount of construction background as well as hundreds of weddings and events . As with any small business it’s always a struggle when you have a town that has so many choices for what I do … you have to make yourself stand out in a crowd !
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think if you ask my design clients and my floral design clients the one and most important thing they would agree on is what a perfectionist I am and how I go so far above and beyond what they pay for … that is how you make a name and a career for yourself!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Always going the extra mile for my clients and letting God lead me to different and wonderful opportunities and amazing people to work with. I love making the world a more beautiful place!
