Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Daniels.
Hi Kelly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
While many country artists wear a blue-collar image, Kelly Daniels has lived it. With calloused hands, a union card, and a lifetime of real-world experience, Daniels brings an unmistakable authenticity to his music. Raised on the South Side of Chicago and now based in Nashville, Daniels’ journey has taken him through restaurant kitchens, construction sites, and mechanic bays—music serving as the constant thread throughout the rough-hewn fabric of his life.
From early teen bands to founding and fronting the popular midwest country cover band Rockstar Rodeo, and later performing as part of the entertainment team for Simon Property Group, the largest shopping mall owner in the United States, his performance street cred is undeniable.
A gifted storyteller, Daniels writes from lived experience—capturing pain, joy, resilience, and
redemption with honesty and heart. His songwriting connects with listeners through shared human moments, grounding every lyric in truth. Influenced by artists spanning Motown, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Brothers, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Travis Tritt, Tracy Lawrence, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, and Metallica, Daniels blends classic country soul with rock attitude and even a little hip-hop sway. The result is a modern country sound that hits hard while staying true.
Daniels has performed on some of the biggest stages in the country, including opening for Morgan Wallen at Wrigley Field and sharing bills with Grand Ole Opry stars Garth Brooks, Mark Wills, and Joe Nichols. He has also shared the stage with Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe), Bret Michaels, Darius Rucker, Lauren Alaina, Shinedown, and The Kentucky Headhunters.
Through mutual industry connections, Daniels teamed up with producer and guitarist Cole Phillips (Gretchen Wilson, Colt Ford, Canaan Smith) for his latest releases. His recent writing and recording projects include collaborations with top-tier musicians, producers, and engineers behind hits for Luke Combs, Sam Hunt, Paramore, Justin Moore, Chris Young, Bailey Zimmerman, Bryan Martin, and more.
Known for his high-energy, emotionally charged live shows, Kelly Daniels delivers a performance that grips audiences from the first downbeat to the final bow. Fans may recognize members of his touring band from music videos and live performances with Chase Matthew, Ryan Waters, Dylan Marlow, and many others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would not say “smooth” but I think that is one of coolest parts of this business. There is always more to learn. The music business and growing as an artist is personal development everyday and personally I feel that is exciting. One of the biggest struggles is finding the right team. Everyone here in Nashville chasing this dream is in the rat race. You get pulled in so many directions and have so many opportunities. So many people to collab and play for/with.. Building the right team with people who understand their roles takes time. Having a team of people that believe in what you’re doing and have your back is a must!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer songwriter. Writing and creating are such rewarding moments but before both I am a performer. An Entertainer. I am known for engaging a crowd. Keeping them interested. I would say I am most proud of the fact that I came here as a seasoned performer and had to grow in songwriting and recording. From what I have learned it is usually the other way around. So many talented people move here and have experience recording and writing. Then they sign a deal and have to go through “Artist Development” before taking a real stage. I started my career as a performer, Dancer, and as an Emcee for really high end events. Like Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. You have to train really hard to get a room full of CFO’s, Doctors, Lawyers, ETC. to PARTY! But I was blessed to work for some of the wealthiest people in America and entertain their family and friends. To give you an idea I was the entertainment for a $1.3 Million dollar Bat Mitzvah. Yes they spent that much on their daughter’s “13th Birthday” party. That client is actually coming to see me perform in Cleveland in May or August and I will respect them by not revealing their name. I can tell you they own one of the largest cosmetic lines in the world!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was neutral. I got along with everyone. Jocks, Stoners, Bookworms, etc. None of it mattered. I just always tried to be kind and cool to everyone. I had friends from all groups, ethnicities, and demographic upbringing. I was big on playing sports but MUSIC and being on stage was always my number one interest.
