Life & Work with Keri Claudel BSN, RN, CANS of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keri Claudel BSN, RN, CANS .

Hi Keri, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today. Who is Nashville Beauty Girl?
Keri Claudel, aka Nashville Beauty Girl, is a certified aesthetic nurse with over 20 years of experience in the medical aesthetic business. Raised in Nashville, she brings an artistic, detail-oriented eye to deliver confidence-boosting non-surgical facial enhancements. This, combined with a fun flare of that Nashville southern charm, makes her the “go-to” girl for Nashville celebrities and professional clientele looking to put their best face forward. Keri is known for using her social media as a platform to educate globally about the aesthetic industry through the eyes of an aesthetic nurse. She was one of the first medical influencers to blog about non-surgical procedures well before the social media era. Her infectious personality, authenticity, and cutting-edge recommendations make her a regular on several syndicated podcasts and keynote speaking engagements.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges today is reality shows and social media, which can create non-realistic expectations and demands for this instant gratification and dramatic result. Injectable and non-surgical treatments are made to look so easy and safe that anyone can administer these treatments with the same perfect results, when in fact, this could not be further from the truth. It is a little scary out there now, with more inexperienced injectors taking advantage of this craze. Unfortunately, I see a lot of dissatisfied patients who have spent their hard-earned money needing their treatments corrected or even reversed.

A one-size-fits-all “cookbook” cosmetic approach will never produce natural results or satisfy customers. What one patient needs is not always good for another; even an individual’s needs change over time. Patients who have dealt with misplaced filler, overdone Botox, and an overall bad treatment plan need a bit more hand-holding, which I am happy to do. If it isn’t good enough for my family or me, it isn’t good enough for my patients. I have performed about every aesthetic treatment I offer myself, not only for the beauty benefit but for the added experience and honest feedback that is crucial when there are so many options out there.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a plastic surgery and cosmetic nurse. For the last two decades, I have been blessed to work alongside the best plastic surgeons in the industry. I am working with a Nashville-based board-certified plastic surgeon and one of Nashville’s top doctors specializing in revision rhinoplasty, Dr. Daniel Hatef, at Hatef Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics. Working under a strong innovative plastic surgeon is a big resource to being a successful aesthetic nurse. The non-surgical consult is crucial and is one of my strongest attributes. It is huge to hear the patient’s concerns and recommend the correct treatment plan based on their expectations, and I don’t see every practitioner doing that. As an instructor with many global cosmetic companies, I train other providers on the latest innovations and proper techniques, along with consultation coaching. Besides educating, my biggest giveback to society is building confidence in others. Seeing my patients become more confident for a more quality life is why I do what I do. I work with the victims of sex trafficking organization, the NAHT Coalition. Removing tattoos and improving the appearance of these victims as they enter back into a “normal “world is my ultimate reward.

We love surprises, fun facts, and incredible stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m big into manifesting. I manifested my whole career, unaware of what I was doing at the time. It’s my superpower. I was a single mom for 15 years before meeting my now husband, Dr. Drew. I love my career, and encouraging confidence in my patients is fun and rewarding. It didn’t feel like work. I needed to be resourceful, a go-getter, and provide for my daughter. I remember staring at my work schedule and thinking out loud; I’m so busy that I can’t keep up. My daughter needed to see a good work ethic, and that hard work paid off; looking back as a young girl, I was attracted to all things beauty. I was also a big dreamer and visualized, spoke loudly, and made vision boards of what I wanted. I felt the need to make something basic look better. I worked full-time at a makeup counter while In nursing school. I wanted to be an interior designer; my mom, a nurse, encouraged me to go to nursing school, and I am now creating beautiful faces. You never know where your career path will take you, Who you might meet along the way that makes this happen for this to happen. Starting as a young neonatal nurse, the confidence I developed using a needle in tedious places and developing an empathetic bedside manner is the foundation to being a sought ethical provider in any industry.
