Life & Work with Kiki Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiki Rose. 

Hi Kiki, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I am XxKikiRosexX 

I am a southern cosplayer and have been going to conventions since a close friend of mine told me about the world of geekdom and cosplay in the year 2011. Since then, I was hooked. Being able to express my creativity and my love for anime, and other various fandoms is a dream come true. I started my journey of making cosplays at a young age once I made my prom dress at the age of 14. I took those skills from that sewing project and incorporated them into many new projects since! It even helped me create my own Character Party Company for a few years, Snowflake Entertainment, where I created many princess costumes such as Elsa from “Frozen”. I as well have been trained under Music City Mermaid to become a full professional mermaid for children’s parties and events. I also became an ordained minister to officiate weddings in cosplay to help create a unique wedding experience for all my fellow cosplayers and geeks out there! It has been so fun traveling with my work and making so many friends and sharing my knowledge with so many people! 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was definitely not a smooth road. Having the love and help of family was wonderful in the beginning when I was a teenager starting out in cosplay. Going to cons with my friends and even having my mom cosplay with me was a lot of fun. Then when I owned my party princess company, I started it from the bottom when I was broke living in Mobile, AL. I had just created my Elsa cosplay and went to the local mall with my friend as Anna and had so many people ask us that day if we did parties that we decided to create the company that day! Expanded from there. I became ordained once I moved to the Nashville area to bring something new and exciting to weddings that wasn’t very common at the time! Cosplay officiant! I tend to dip my toes in a lot of things. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am cosplayer, Model, professional mermaid, ordained cosplay minister. Not many people can say that so I guess that’s what sets me apart from others? I am most proud of the fact that I can do so much because of my love of cosplay, and my creativity. I strive to have fun in life and to always have a story to tell. 

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I just like talking with people. I don’t have much advice on the matter other than just talk with others. Be personable. Just being genuine has carried me through life so far. I enjoy all the connections I make just by getting to know people.
