Life & Work with Kim Breese

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Breese.

Hi Kim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
In 2015, I had a corporate job as a Director of Sales for a fast-growing start-up. Although I was considered successful by industry standards, I was out of touch with myself and my body. Living a very stressful existence, my health began to suffer and eventually propelled me to quit my job. Leaving my job forced me to unravel to uncover the benefits of self-healing through a variety of holistic and integrative approaches. This fateful life experience is what led me to energy work.

My first experience with Energy Work was life-changing. Fascinated by the effectiveness of the work, I wanted to learn more about the therapy and the techniques. In January 2016, I started training with the Healing Touch Program and successfully completed the 5 levels of education to pass the board-certified Healing Touch Proficiency Exam, which qualifies me as a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner. Through my training, I realized the connection the mind, body, and spirit can have to an individual’s overall health and well-being.

I knew there was a healthier way to live from my own experience of wanting to feel good and whole again. This is why I love to share the benefits of energy work to help others on their own healing journeys. I have found that each healing journey I get to be a part of continues teaching me about my own. It is the greatest gift.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you start to live life on your terms it is not an easy road. We are often taught to live our life through the expectations of others and the expectations society places on you. Once you start to listen to yourself and determine your wants and needs, it creates a sense of peace from within and, very often, turmoil and chaos to the life you have been used to living.

Once I began my own healing journey, it opened my eyes to a new way of being in the world. I found that it also created life situations that were scary, unknown, and could be heartbreaking. I left a stable, high-income producing job to pursue a career in an alternative, holistic therapy that can sometimes be considered taboo. Many of my close relationships changed and sometimes parted ways as I began to walk more in my truth. As I found my voice, I found I wasn’t going to be readily accepted by everyone. A feat I had tried very hard to maintain for many years.

Although it hasn’t been a smooth road, I can’t imagine it any other way. It has taught me so much about my strength, my grit, and my persistence. The obstacles and the challenges are where my true, authentic growth has happened.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I believe it would be helpful to provide a brief description of energy work:

Energy work is an energy-based therapy where practitioners use their hands to help restore balance and harmony to the body. It is different from massage because there is little to no pressure applied and clients are fully clothed. The non-invasive techniques allow the practitioner’s hands to clear, energize and balance the human energy system to facilitate health and well-being. The work supports the parasympathetic nervous system’s relaxation response while encouraging the body’s natural ability to heal.

What I love about the work I do is the amount of change that happens in a short period of time. The key to transformation is listening to your body. This can be attained by the simple act of slowing down. So often we are taught not to listen to ourselves. Energy work helps you to tune in to better understand your evolving wants and needs. Teaching you that the answers reside from within and are readily available to be discovered. Creating the space for powerful insights to emerge.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Gosh, that is a tough question because there have been so many life lessons I have learned! If I had to pick one it would be trust in the flow of your life. Life has a way of working for you. When you can surrender to the flow of your life, even in the hard, challenging times, it is always for your highest and best good.
