Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyla Hope.
Hi Kyla, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Before moving to Nashville to attend Belmont University, I grew up on Long Island, New York. I began singing when I was three years old and songwriting when I was five. It quickly became a way of life for me. As a child, I put my love for music into local musical theater productions, which later turned into me performing as a lead in two different off-Broadway musicals in New York City. I went on to perform more music rather than theater and began going to “The Loft Sound Studio” at fourteen years old. I started off recording covers, but quickly jumped into recording and producing originals with my producer, Donnie Klang. Only a few months later, I released my first original single, “True Love Does Exist”, on all music platforms, and soon after I released my second original, “Angels Inside of Us”. After many hours of writing and recording, I finally dropped my first original EP, “Consider This” in March of 2019. Later that year in June, I dropped another single, “This Summer” ft. Donnie Klang, on all music platforms. I have performed at different venues throughout the years, including Carnegie Hall two years in a row, my own release party for my EP at “The Stage” and the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Annual Long Beach Polar Plunge for 15,000 people. During high school, I attended the Long Island High School for the Arts for half of my school day where I majored in music. In November of 2020, I released another single, “Fearless” that I worked on closely with Robbie Rosen and Keenan Cahill. The single was signed by the record label, “Bass Rebels Music”. I have recently finished recording my second original EP with my producer, Donnie Klang. The EP has yet to be dropped, but the release date will be announced soon. I am currently attending Belmont University, where I intend to further my knowledge of the music industry and hopefully further my career in music and songwriting. I am beyond blessed for the opportunities I have experienced and can’t wait to see where the future takes me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up, especially in high school, it was hard to pursue music without being discouraged. On many occasions, I was told this career path was unrealistic and although I agree it may be difficult, I believe it’s important to pursue what you love. I learned how to push past the judgments of others because I have a passion for what I do.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer, songwriter, and recording artist. I typically sing/write pop and pop-rock music. I am honestly really proud of how far I’ve come as a songwriter, but I know that even the best people in the word still have room to grow. I’ve always tried to make my music something a person could listen to as an escape. I want the world to know that we all go through similar things and that we are there to provide support and comfort. It’s always been extremely important to me for everyone to know they are not alone and I really try to portray that in my lyrics and music.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I have recently finished recording my next original EP. I am super excited to share it with the world and the release date will be announced soon.
