Life & Work with Kylie Van Meter of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Van Meter.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Kylie Interiors as an ambitious, passionate design student back in 2019. I have always loved interior design, construction, and the home. My business was born in California where I grew up, and in 2021 I relocated and started over in Nashville.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is any entrepreneurial journey smooth? Of course I have had struggles. Coming from having an established firm in California with trusted trades, to completely starting from scratch moving to Nashville – was not easy in the slightest. I have learned that each season in life and in business has new challenges that will push you to your limits. What matters is that you keep putting one foot in front of the other, and take each lesson as an opportunity to get better than you were yesterday.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a full service designer, I specialize in what I call “Rustic Luxe” interior design. When I was refining my style, I realized that there was no trendy style that fully captured what I love and how I design. I love earthy, textured, warm and cozy elements – and I also love contemporary design.

Oftentimes, rustic and modern are thought of as two polar opposite styles. At Kylie Interiors – we blend the two. We take all of the things you love about cozy, nostalgic, and nature-forward rustic, and blend them them into a luxury, clean, and cutting edge space. Think – leather, linen, and rustic wood, but refined and high-end, without scaring away from a modern sleek moment. Rustic Luxe is a modern approach to rustic living.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me when it comes to business and design is creating functional, beautiful spaces that not only tell the story of the people who live there, but also improve their day to day life. Form follows function.

What matters most to me in LIFE? My family. My beautiful son and being an example to him that he can do anything and be anything he wants to be, if he pursues it with his whole heart.
